The Anime and Manga style of entertainment has become very popular in the western world. What Anime or Manga character(s) do you best identify with, and why?
To answer, I'd start by saying that I don't completely identify with any character, but there was an anime I watched a while back that I really liked, but because of how it made me feel, I suddenly felt like I could understand the character's emotions.
I'm talking about "Jigoku Shoujo," also known as "Hell Girl." I'll quickly tell you roughly what it's about: The story centers on Ai Enma, a girl who usually appears when people access a hell mailing list. This is nothing more than a website that opens exactly at midnight, and anyone who writes the name of the person they hate there can send them to hell, but in return, their own soul will also go to hell when they die.
Ai Enma's story is quite tragic, and sadly, some things I understood or could feel were the betrayal of this character when she was still human. She wasn't born evil, but quite the opposite: a girl with a big heart.
One thing that does identify me is that this character is quite quiet, almost never shows her emotions, but inside she carries a great ocean. And perhaps this is also something else, but to clarify first, as a teenager I felt resentment and hatred for a specific person... Well, this character mainly says that she hates humans for everything she experienced in the past, but after working in hell itself, she still spends her time observing humans and manages to reflect on hatred and forgiveness.
El anime y el manga se han vuelto muy populares en Occidente. ¿Con qué personaje de anime o manga te identificas más y por qué?
Para responder empezaría diciendo que no me identifico completamente con un personaje pero hubo un anime que vi hace un tiempo atrás que me gustó mucho pero por como me hacia sentir, de pronto sentía que podía comprender las emociones del personaje.
Estoy hablando de “Jigoku Shoujo” o también conocida como “Hell Girl” rápidamente les diré mas o menos de que va: La historia se centra en Ai Enma, esta es una chica que suele aparecer cuando las personas acceden a una correspondencia del infierno, esto no es mas que una página web que se abre exactamente a medianoche y cualquiera que escriba allí el nombre de la persona que odia puede enviarla al infierno pero a cambio, su propia alma también irá al infierno cuando muera.
La historia de Ai Enma es bastante trágica y lamentablemente, algunas cosas que entendí o que pude sentirlas fue la traición hacia este personaje cuando aún era humana, ella no nació siendo mala sino todo lo contrario, una chica con un gran corazón.
Una cosa que sí me identifica es que este persona es bastante callado, casi nunca muestra sus emociones pero por dentro lleva un gran océano. Y quizás esta también sea otra cosa, pero para aclarar primero, yo de adolescente sentía un rencor y odio por una persona en específico… Bueno, este personaje principalmente se dice que ella odia a los humanos por todo lo que vivió en el pasado pero luego de que ella trabaje en el mismo infierno aún así ella se la pasa observando a los humanos y logra reflexionar sobre el odio y el perdón.
I'm not familiar with this anime but a quick check on google I can grasp the general ideal of this dark genre. In my old ways I can imagine the thoughts of Ai as she bared witness to the many souls dragged to Hell, revenge may be sweet at first but at the cost of your own soul. I am curious to what conclusions she has come to. No spoilers please.
