Despite my frequent and being to roughly ±80% places in the South Island so far in less than my two years in New Zealand. The Westcoast is a place I haven't been to much..
Aside from being to Westport for work and a weekend away in Hokitika last year. I haven't been to the Westcoast after that. So the job took me to Westcoast this week, and it was just beautiful driving on the that I haven't been frequent on despite the rain and mist it still presented views views.
I had to stop at Otira Viaduct lookout for photos, I was almost discouraged from stopping, but I am glad I took the quick detour for views from above before continuing with my drive.
I have shared photos of Otira Viaduct in the past which was my first time and by the looks, this spot is going to be my favorite stop so more photos on different days are guaranteed whenever I am going through Otira
We owe it to ourselves to make Hive great

Wow, this is amazing. Crossing the bridge feels like floating above the world. Especially with the thick fog in front of you, which feels both mysterious and calming.
Hahaha after taking the photos from above I continued my drive over the bridge. Driving further is very steep though. But it was a drive i enjoyed.

To be honest I felt a bit disappointed because I wanted sunny weather but this view with the mist turned out beautiful as well.

Is the fog seasonal or just always there?
It is quite charming with the mist. I didn't think I will be happy with these shots but I am after I got home and looked at them.
I wouldn't say seasonal, it could be a daily weather change kind of thing.
The above photo was my first time there and it was a sunny beautiful day. I was expecting such a sunny day but I am now happy to experience the misty view.
