The Call of Summer Birdlife

"Tame birds sing of freedom. Wild birds fly." - John Lennon

Graceful, always vibrant colours, mannerism or movement, swift action symbolizing freedom and joy, ever busy finding food source.

Day chorus in waking to birdsong my natural alarm clock, while male birds sing loudly claiming territory attracting females toward end of spring now moving into summer, a special peace falls offering inspiration heralding in another day.

Dazzling southern or red bishop bird (Euplectes orix) visited on a couple of mornings, a rare sight in the garden normally in reeds along the rivers, they build neat tightly woven nests that withstand all weather conditions. Free meal pays dividends sometimes.

Small, taller and biggest, overload on the feeder with bronze mannikin, sparrow, weaver and dove sharing together, some of the song birds mentioned.

Sleek, gracefully riding thermals taking it higher and higher, the African Woolly-necked storks playing above to delight once again, lifting spirits simply watching.

'General' standing to attention Southern Masked Weaver, he doesn't look impressed at the moment with his red beady eye watching me.

With the new palisade the birds have found new perch, another early summer surprise visitor in a Southern Black Flycatcher (Melaenornis pammelaina) juveniles are spotted brown, isn't it cuteness enjoying the midday sun.

Closing off an hour ago, everything overcast, a little cooler had the pleasure of watching the yellow-bill kite do a fly by. Have a wonderful day.

Very hot day yesterday, cooler today, have had lots of rain so every time the sun comes out we boil.

Tuck in tight and enjoy a hot-chocolate and thanks for visiting Wanda.
