Five Years With Dancing Queens!

It’s really five years and although I have been here for only three, it’s been such a delight growing into womanhood from this platform. I remember when I joined Hive in late 2022, and it was the very first community I subscribed to. Because in my head, a place where women could come together and just be women in all their phases, sounded like a dream I wouldn’t want to wake up from.

Fast forward to my very first prompt win. It was a Sunday and I remember being super ecstatic jumping from place to place because to me, a community of women had found my story not just beautiful to read but worthy enough to be awarded.

It’s been three years since then and I’m so happy at how far I’ve come being in this space with the Ladies of Hive. Learning, growing and becoming with everyone in this community. Through the questions, I learnt to reflect, and by reading the reflections of the ladies, I learnt to see myself through their eyes. It was like a lens. A mirror to the wold and culture of other women just by reading their stories.

I’ve made the most amazing friends who I remain close to till today just by being a part of this community. And I’ve had the most thoughtful comments from the ladies and moderators in this community that has brought tears to my eyes. Every prompt connects us, and every story brings us closer.

At the end of the day, we’re all just women with similar struggles, similar fears, similar wins and similar joys. We’re different in our own ways but these are the things that bind us, and this beloved community, through the care, the daily support and the unfailing love, brought all of that and many more to light.

What song or piece of music would you dedicate to the Ladies of Hive on our anniversary, and what makes it meaningful?

A song came to mind the moment I thought about a song I could dedicate to the women and women-appreciating men in the Ladies of Hive community, and immediately ABBA’s Dancing Queen came to mind.

This song is so beautiful, and a reminder that we’re all dancing queens. No matter what our struggles are. No matter our age in life, we’ll always be Queens, young at heart, dancing and having the time of our life.

This is my favourite part of the song, and it means a lot to me that I can share this with a community I adore.
