Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend an event organized by Leadership Network, a group of professionals from diverse fields who have begun giving talks on finance, marketing, and personal and professional development.

The venue chosen for these first talks was the Avi Chocolate restaurant. This place has a rich history. In the past, for several decades, it was simply called Chocolate and was well-known because, being located a few meters from the main campus of Lisandro Alvarado University, it was frequented by students.

After a long period with the same owner, a few years ago it was sold to the company AVi, which changed the name to Avi Chocolate, adding its new brand and dropping "Chocolate," since that name is already very familiar in the community.

El fin de semana pasado tuve la oportunidad de asistir a un evento organizado por Leadership Network, un grupo de profesionales de diversos campos que han comenzado a impartir charlas sobre finanzas, marketing y desarrollo personal y profesional.

El lugar elegido para estas primeras charlas fue el restaurante Avi Chocolate. Este lugar tiene una rica historia. En el pasado, durante varias décadas, se llamaba simplemente Chocolate y era muy conocido porque, al estar ubicado a pocos metros del campus principal de la Universidad Lisandro Alvarado, era frecuentado por estudiantes.

Tras un largo período con el mismo propietario, hace unos años fue vendido a la empresa AVi, que cambió el nombre a Avi Chocolate, añadiendo su nueva marca y eliminando "Chocolate", ya que ese nombre es muy conocido en la comunidad.

It had been many years since I'd visited this place, and of course, it's very different; they remodeled it, and now it's a bit more elegant. It also has a wine cellar-style area for quick purchases. I thought the decor was beautiful, and I loved the entire area where the alcoholic beverages are displayed.

The talk was for a small group, and there were approximately four presentations. The organizer is a coach specializing in professional development. A psychologist also participated, speaking about work environments and psychology. Another speaker talked mainly about her personal experience as an entrepreneur and how she used her strategy to raise awareness, something that worked for her, and now she's successful in her sales after so much sacrifice.

One of the last presentations was given by a renowned communications professional who works in various media outlets and spoke about the power of voice and communication to advance in the workplace.

Hacía muchos años que no visitaba este lugar y, por supuesto, está muy diferente; lo remodelaron y ahora es un poco más elegante. También tiene una zona tipo bodega para hacer compras rápidas. La decoración me pareció preciosa y me encantó toda la zona donde se exhiben las bebidas alcohólicas.

La charla fue para un grupo pequeño y hubo aproximadamente cuatro presentaciones. El organizador es un coach especializado en desarrollo profesional. También participó una psicóloga que habló sobre entornos laborales y psicología. Otra ponente habló principalmente de su experiencia personal como emprendedora y de cómo utilizó su estrategia para darse a conocer, algo que le funcionó, y ahora tiene éxito en sus ventas después de tanto sacrificio.

Una de las últimas presentaciones estuvo a cargo de una reconocida profesional de la comunicación que trabaja en diversos medios y habló sobre el poder de la voz y la comunicación para progresar en el ámbito laboral.

The activity also included a recreational art segment, where participants painted a mug using the materials available at the table. Each person was able to express themselves through painting.

Music was essential, and a married couple's musical duo entertained the afternoon and evening with excellent songs, many of them from bands of the eighties and nineties. I think there are quite a few bands that perform songs from those two decades, something that evokes memories for those of us who grew up with that music.

Several brands sponsored the activity. There was a pizza tasting, prepared by Avi Chocolate, and cocktails were served to the guests, courtesy of a local brand. There was also a raffle, where a candy and chocolate company gave away various products. Additionally, a master ice cream maker who sells his products at Avi Chocolate offered a tasting of his ice creams and also held a raffle.

The event concluded with a networking session and good music. Those who wished could stay and continue enjoying themselves at the venue.

La actividad también incluyó un segmento de arte recreativo, donde los participantes pintaron una taza utilizando los materiales disponibles en la mesa. Cada persona pudo expresarse a través de la pintura.

La música fue imprescindible, y un dúo musical formado por un matrimonio amenizó la tarde y la noche con excelentes canciones, muchas de ellas de grupos de los ochenta y noventa. Creo que hay bastantes grupos que interpretan canciones de esas dos décadas, algo que evoca recuerdos para quienes crecimos con esa música.

Varias marcas patrocinaron la actividad. Hubo una degustación de pizza, elaborada por Avi Chocolate, y se sirvieron cócteles a los invitados, cortesía de una marca local. También hubo un sorteo, donde una empresa de dulces y chocolates rifó varios productos. Asimismo, un maestro heladero que vende sus productos en Avi Chocolate ofreció una degustación de sus helados y también realizó un sorteo.

El evento concluyó con una charla para establecer contactos entre los asistentes y buena música. Quienes lo desearon pudieron quedarse y seguir disfrutando en las instalaciones.
