Arabic food is very popular in my country because a large community from different parts of the Middle East has settled here. Several generations arrived in Venezuela last century and put down roots.
One of the most popular dishes is shawarma, a dish that has gained popularity over the years. I remember that when I was a teenager there were a few Arabic restaurants in my city, and their number kept increasing.
This dish, which is fast food, has its place in my city; it's no longer limited to just hamburgers, hot dogs, or pepito guaro. Many people, when they go out to enjoy the night and have a drink, end up eating at a place that serves this type of fast food.
La comida árabe es muy popular en mi país porque una gran comunidad de diferentes partes de Oriente Medio se ha asentado aquí. Varias generaciones llegaron a Venezuela el siglo pasado y echaron raíces.
Uno de los platos más populares es el shawarma, un producto que ha ganado popularidad con los años. Recuerdo que cuando era adolescente había algunos restaurantes de comida árabe en mi ciudad, y su número fue en aumento.
Este plato, que es comida rápida, tiene su lugar en mi ciudad; ya no se limita solo a hamburguesas, perritos calientes o pepito guaro. Mucha gente, cuando sale a disfrutar de la noche y tomar algo, termina comiendo en algún lugar que sirva este tipo de comida rápida.
The organizer of the Ham Bread Route is now promoting the Shawarma Route, and a press conference was held a few days before its launch. The event, which brought together media and content creators, took place in the pool area of the Lidotel.
The press conference began at 5:00 p.m. The panel included the organizer, his team, and some of the owners of the establishments participating in the route.
Before the press conference began, there was live music by a vallenato group. I think what was missing was an Arabic dance group; that would have been a more fitting addition.
El organizador de la Ruta del Pan de Jamón ahora promociona la Ruta del Shawarma, y se celebró una rueda de prensa unos días antes de su lanzamiento. El evento, que reunió a medios de comunicación y creadores de contenido, tuvo lugar en la zona de la piscina del Lidotel.
La rueda de prensa comenzó a las cinco de la tarde. El panel incluyó al organizador, su equipo y algunos de los propietarios de los establecimientos que participan en la ruta.
Antes de que comenzara la rueda de prensa, hubo música en vivo a cargo de un grupo de vallenato. Creo que lo que faltó fue un grupo de danza árabe; habría sido una adición más apropiada.

Several food sponsors were present to offer tastings, as were the participants in the Route, who offered samples of their products. All attendees enjoyed sampling the variety of shawarmas and other dishes from Venezuelan Arab cuisine.
The Route took place on Friday and Saturday, during which a group of content creators visited each of the establishments. Of the ten participating restaurants, only one was owned by a Venezuelan without Arab ancestry. This owner adapted the shawarma with local ingredients, while remaining true to the original recipe.
Everything was excellent, and the media and invited guests were able to sample all the offerings before the Route.
Varias marcas patrocinadoras de alimentos estuvieron presentes para ofrecer degustaciones, al igual que los participantes de la Ruta, quienes ofrecieron muestras de sus productos. Todos los asistentes disfrutaron probando la variedad de shawarmas y otros platillos de la cultura árabe venezolana.
La Ruta se llevó a cabo el viernes y el sábado, durante los cuales un grupo de creadores de contenido visitó cada uno de los establecimientos. De los diez restaurantes participantes, solo uno era propiedad de un venezolano sin ascendencia árabe. Este propietario adaptó el shawarma con ingredientes locales, respetando al máximo la receta original.
Todo estuvo excelente, y los medios de comunicación e invitados pudieron probar todas las propuestas antes de la Ruta.

Wowww muchas cosas se ven tentadoras, aunque nunca he probado comida árabe... otras cosas, no se si probarlas jajaja pero que bien estuvo organizado todo. Lo importante es que le den de comer a la prensa, si señor!!

Estos eventos de ruta gastronómica buscan promocionar a los locales participantes, los cuales se dan a conocer y dan un repunte a sus ventas. Cuando comía comida rápida en el pasado, me decantaba era pro hamburguesas, pero aquí hay mucha gente que ama la comida árabe. En Venezuela la comunidad árabe esta conformada es por libios y sirios en su mayoría.
Nunca me imaginé eso, no creí que había tanto árabe ahí! En Argentina no había, no sé ahora, pero hasta que viví ahí, no había... acá hay mucho!
