Christmas has arrived in Metropolis

The shopping malls in the city of Barquisimeto have already begun their Christmas tree lighting ceremonies. The Metropolis shopping mall was one of the first to hold its lighting ceremony. It took place on Friday, November 7. I had seen the announcement on social media and went to the mall that day.

I arrived a little before 4:00 p.m., and while they were finishing setting up the stage, there was already an area where people could take photos with Christmas motifs, which were printed instantly and handed out. All of this was completely free. One of the shopping center's partner companies was sponsoring it, and the line to take a photo was quite long. People left happy with their souvenir photos, all printed in very good quality.

Los centros comerciales de la ciudad de Barquisimeto ya han comenzado sus ceremonias de encendido del árbol de Navidad. El centro comercial Metrópolis fue uno de los primeros en celebrar su ceremonia de encendido. Esta tuvo lugar el pasado viernes 7 de noviembre. Había visto el anuncio en las redes sociales y ese día fui al centro comercial.

Llegué un poco antes de las cuatro de la tarde y, mientras terminaban de montar el escenario, ya había una zona donde la gente podía hacerse fotos con motivos navideños, que se imprimían al momento y se entregaban. Todo esto era completamente gratuito. Una de las empresas colaboradoras del centro comercial lo patrocinaba y la cola para hacerse la foto era bastante larga. La gente se iba contenta con sus fotos de recuerdo, todas impresas con muy buena calidad.

Before the musical activities began, another company set up shop in another space where they started making popcorn. Immediately, a huge line of people with their children formed to get their free bag of popcorn. The children were the happiest. Bleachers were set up around the central stage for the audience to sit on, and they filled up very quickly. In the center, there were cordoned-off seats for the mall's management.

The first musical activity was a youth choir, which delighted the audience with beautiful Christmas carols. The Christmas melody took over the entire area, and the two entertainers announced all the attractions and surprises they had prepared for the children to enjoy. It is well known that they are the ones who enjoy this time of year the most. I am more of a Grinch who does not like Christmas very much.

Antes de que comenzaran las actividades musicales, otra empresa se instaló en otro espacio donde empezaron a hacer palomitas de maíz. Inmediatamente se formó una enorme fila de personas con sus hijos para conseguir su bolsa gratuita de palomitas. Los niños eran los más felices. Alrededor del escenario central se instalaron gradas para que el público se sentara, y se llenaron muy rápidamente. En el centro había asientos acordonados para la directiva del centro comercial.

La primera actividad musical fue un coro juvenil, que deleitó al público con hermosos villancicos navideños. La melodía navideña se apoderó de toda la zona, y los dos animadores anunciaron todas las atracciones y sorpresas que tenían preparadas para que los niños disfrutaran. Ya se sabe que ellos son los que más disfrutan de esta época del año. Yo soy más bien un Grinch al que no le gusta mucho la Navidad.

I walked around the mall for a while, waiting for a band to perform. I think they were called Equilibrio, but I'm not sure. There were three singers, one man and two women, who entertained the audience for about an hour, performing lively music with a Latin flavor. I liked it, and they were good performers and all three put on a good show.

There were quite a few people there, and I had to move around to get different shots. I didn't want to stay in one place, and I don't like being in crowds because I feel like I can't breathe. That's why I prefer to keep moving and take photos from different angles.

Me puse a caminar por el centro comercial un rato, esperando a que actuara un grupo musical. Creo que se llamaban Equilibrio, pero no estoy seguro. Había tres cantantes, un hombre y dos mujeres, que entretuvieron al público durante aproximadamente una hora, interpretando música animada con sabor latino. Me gustó, además, eran buenos intérpretes y los tres hicieron un buen espectáculo.

Había bastante gente y tuve que moverme para conseguir diferentes tomas. No quería quedarme en un solo lugar, y no me gusta estar entre multitudes porque siento que no puedo respirar. Por eso prefiero estar en constante movimiento y tomar fotos desde diferentes ángulos.

People from a cable TV and Internet company brought a Grinch for the children to take pictures with. They stayed for a couple of hours before leaving.

The grand finale was a show with Santa Claus. They recreated a scene from a movie. That part was very colorful. They hired entertainers from the most famous company in the city, as almost all shopping malls hire them to entertain at these kinds of events.

They did a great job, dancing and singing, and finally, the most eagerly awaited moment arrived: the lighting of the mall's Christmas tree. That was the end of it all, but they stayed longer to take pictures with all the children. The actors went up on stage. They also handed out gifts to the children. At that point, I left because people were going crazy, pushing, everyone wanted to take pictures, etc.

It was a beautiful show. This coming weekend, I think there's another lighting ceremony at another shopping mall, and I hope to be able to attend.

La gente de una empresa de televisión por cable e Internet trajo un Grinch para que los niños se hicieran fotos con él. Se quedaron un par de horas hasta que se marcharon.

El gran final fue un espectáculo con Papá Noel. Recrearon una escena de una película. Esa parte fue muy colorida. Contrataron a los animadores de una empresa que es la más famosa de la ciudad, ya que casi todos los centros comerciales los contratan para animar este tipo de actividades.

Lo hacen muy bien, bailando, cantando y, finalmente, llegó el momento más esperado: el encendido del árbol de Navidad del centro comercial. Eso fue el final de todo, pero se quedaron más tiempo para hacerse fotos con todos los niños. Los actores subieron al escenario. También repartieron regalos a los niños. En ese momento, me fui porque la gente se estaba volviendo loca, empujando, todos querían hacerse fotos, etc.

Fue un espectáculo precioso. Este fin de semana que viene, creo que hay otra ceremonia de encendido en otro centro comercial, y espero poder asistir.
