My Sketchbook Journal: Rescue

image.png

Welcome to My Digital Sketchbook Journal. In this sketchbook journal you can explore my digital scribbles, which is much like a spontaneous adventure. These are quick sketches, born from whimsy on the fly so you get the idea. This is also my entry to the #sketchquest contest of @quatro.

Finally found that line. After searching through apps and missing the uneven thickness of a classic fountain pen, I gave PenUp a shot. Ther is something in a line drawing that varies in volume—it feels more human, less digital.

Started this piece with a specific inspiration in mind: an animal lover I saw online who didn’t hesitate to take home a sickly stray kitten. That selfless moment stuck with me. To capture it, I stepped away from my usual style and went for something that is hand drawn with a pencil or fountain pen with flat aesthetic. I wanted the colors to feel warm and intentional, using that soft orange backdrop to make the purple and blue tones of the character pop. It’s a departure from my regular work, but the contrast between the bold, uneven linework and the flat fills really brought the story of the rescue to life for my SketchQuest entry.

Does the warmth of these colors make you feel the same sense of hope I felt?
