Night Photography in a Midnight in the Snow.

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Hi, I'm back with another contribution to Gaming Photography community and this time I'm going to join Gaming Photography Weekly Contest - Theme: Night Photography showing and talking about Night Photography in RDR 2.

I camped at Lake Isabella during a freezing midnight, observing an eclipsed moon before riding to Ewin Basim. I discovered a ghostly, abandoned settlement lit by lamps but devoid of people. After experimenting with explosives and fire bottles in the snow, I watched the moon settle over the mountains as dawn approached.

The night started from my tent by Lake Isabella, Grizzlies, AM. The time was 1 am with minus 9 degrees Celsius, and I spent a quiet moment watching the flickering campfire from inside the tent.

I came out of the tent and found my horse standing right there, waiting patiently in the frost. I went close to the campfire so Arthur could get some warmth in this cold weather. I could see Arthur's breath misting in the air as he rubbed his hands together to fight off the biting cold.

I hopped on my horse and walked to the edge of the snowy lake. From where I stood, I could see the eclipsed moon hanging low in the sky. It cast a surreal, dim light over the frozen expanse of Lake Isabella, making the world look like a silver-tinted dream.

I started moving ahead through the trees covered with heavy snow. It was snow falling at this time, obscuring my vision and dampening the sounds of the forest. I guided my horse carefully through the thick drifts, following a trail that was slowly being erased by the fresh white powder.

There was Ewin Basim, Grizzlies, AM that I was checking in on from a high ridge. From that height, the valley looked vast and untouched. I noticed some flickering lights in the distance, which gave me hope that there might be some people or a warm settlement waiting for me down below.

I rode there and started looking around, but there were no people to be found. Only some lamps were hanging around, swinging gently in the wind and casting long, dancing shadows against the wooden shacks.

I even climbed up the tower to check around, carrying my lamp to pierce the darkness. I looked in every direction for a sign of life, but there was no soul at all. The settlement remained silent, with only the creaking of the wood and the whistling wind for company.

I climbed up a house from where I threw some dynamites on the ground to check its effect in the night. The explosion was mesmerizing, a sudden flash of white and orange that illuminated the entire camp for a split second before the darkness rushed back in, leaving a scorched crater in the snow.

I tried some fire bottles after reaching the ground to see how they reacted to the cold. The fire was not flaming for a long time as it was snow falling still, which quickly smothered the heat.

The snowfall stopped after a moment as the night was about to end soon. Even as the sky began to lighten, I still could see the beautiful moon right above that mountain. It remained a giant, pale orb in the sky, providing a final stunning view before the Grizzlies were woken by the sun.

Here I'm finishing the post for today and I'll come talk about more special RDR 2 gaming moments in Gaming Photography.

"The screenshots are my take but properties of Red Dead Redemption 2."
