Once I was sad and felt lonely, the point is I was stressed, I had a lot to cover for school work and it was depressing, I just sat outside a shop I went to purchase from, thinking about how I would round everything up and at least get a little sleep before the next day.

I felt a little warm and hairy touch on my leg, looking down I saw a beautiful gray cat, it looked up at me and gave me a soft meow..... At that point, it felt as if all my worries were gone......

Yeah, you're right, I'm a cat lover, those cute hairy little animals, I loved them, I would go to houses and see their cats around, I wished to have a cat of my own, but that dream felt impossible because it seemed as if at home I was the only cat lover around.

In my locality, people view cats as animals associated with witchcraft or something evil most especially black cats. They say it looks harmful but all I see when I look at them are harmless little creatures who just want to be petted.
On a casual morning when nothing exciting was going on, I was coming back from yet another hectic day at school when my friend who lived near our house came to me.

"There's a cat In your house, I think your parents got a cat" I stared at her for an embarrassing moment and gave her a loud laughter
"Who are you kidding? A cat in my house" She simply smiled and said I should go on.

I was momentarily taken aback, a cat was indeed in our house, it was so small, so cute I felt I was passing out.
My dreams had finally come true.
My preferred choice of pet is a "CAT"
I'll explain why...
Cats are territorial creatures, most times a cat comes to rub itself on your leg, which makes territory and proves that he/she knows you.
Cats are very cute and they are naturally very clean animals, unlike dogs they only need to be bathed, they use their tongue and keep themselves ever clean, saving you a lot of stress.
They also don't excrete anyhow like dogs, they must dig a hole, and cover it when they are done, it amazed me to see such a clean animal.
It eats human food too and it loves fish, milk and coconut.

Cats also have an economic importance, if they stay with you, then rest assured not a single creeping creature will you see again.
They kill and on most occasions eat insects.
All the wall geckos, rats, cockroaches, spiders and many other insects practically run for their lives, that is a relief.

When it is outside it hunts and kills lizards, and not a single snake, occasionally we see dead snakes lying around, we know she did a good job, it's our baby.

Her name is "FIONA"
But she loves it when I call her sweetheart.
Formally I wasn't biased about the gender of my cat but I became when I learned something.

Male cats tend to run away once they are older because they need to find a female, so I automatically preferred female cats because a male would come to look for them, and then they would give birth.

Fiona is growing older now, and we even suspect she might be pregnant although we're not so sure about that.

There's a saying that "If you wanna know how a woman behaves get a cat🤣"
It's true, cats have a lot of attitude like women, and sometimes it can be annoying, the famous "catwalking" was gotten from them.

But don't worry they are very cute, they love to be petted occasionally, and once they know you well, you'll fall in love with them.
