Just Getting Started: My First Step Toward Data Science

Hey everyone! It's a special day for me. You know why? Okey, let me tell you, I finally created my LinkedIn profile. To be frank, it l like I just opened something big which will help me shine and do better in the future.

The most interesting part is, I haven’t started university classes yet. I just got admitted to Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University in the Department of Statistics. The name is really big right...haha. Classes will start in a few months, but I didn’t want to waste anymore time. I want to be ready and start my first step.

Why am I so confident? Because my goal is clear. I want to become a Data Analyst, and maybe one day a Data Scientist. I know the path isn’t that easy, there will be many ups and downs in my journey. I’m just starting and I don’t even know much about Python, Excel, or Power BI....but I am trying to give some time to learn all these. One thing, I’ve noticed people from like my backgrounds doing great things in the data world. That's the thing which gave me hope. That made me believe in me and my department. So I also believed that, if I start small but stay consistent, maybe I can also do it or I have the potential.

So, let's know about my first real step:
👉 I created a LinkedIn profile
👉 I added “Statistics Student | Aspiring Data Analyst” as my headline
👉 I started writing my “About” section with full honesty. I'm learning and dreaming. Most importantly I'm serious."

Now, you might be curious about, “Why LinkedIn?” For me, it’s not just social media like others. It’s such a special place where learners grow....where people share what they’re learning....it's a place where I can connect with others like me. I mean the people whose ambitions are also like mine. Or some people who are already doing what I dream to do.

I saw posts from other students sharing their small projects...their Excel practice...Python learning journey. And this is what forced me to ask myself, "why can’t I do the same?"

Now, I will share what I am planning to do here:

🟢 Step 1: Learn Excel

I’ve already started watching some tutorials videos on YouTube. I’m learning how to use the data and enter it to the cells, I try to use formulas, and make some simple fake project.

🟢 Step 2: Learn Python

I haven't started this yet. But once I feel confident with Excel, I’ll move towards Python. I know it won’t be easy, but I’ll keep learning it slowly and steadily.

🟢 Step 3: Share my journey

According to me, it's the most important part. Whatever I learn, even if it’s small, I’ll write about it on LinkedIn and Hive. Why am I planning to do so? Well it will keep me motivated to learn more new things and share it with everyone.
