Some things about me... - Ladies of Hive # 257. / Algunas cosas de mi...
1️⃣ Do you like collecting things? If so, could you tell us why? Since when? And show us photos of your collection.
A few years ago, Coca-Cola launched an annual promotion for a collection of cups that were very attractive and easy to acquire. It consisted of presenting five caps of the soft drink in a supermarket, which was exchanged for a beautiful, rather large, glass-shaped cup. One imagined it filled with ice and the bubbly beverage. This was the biggest marketing campaign we had during the month of December each year and was the most anticipated by consumers of the product.
The collection of tins came with the purchase of the cookies we shared at the Christmas table. Each year, different Christmas motifs arrived, which became collectible. I also have tins that used to hold powdered milk, crackers, and cereal. I bought some myself, and others were given to me as gifts, as I had several, and that's how my collection grew. They're practical for storing things like buttons, threads, and whatever else you can think of.
2️⃣ What was the first dessert or sweet recipe you learned to make? We would love for you to share it with everyone.
My mother taught me how to cook everything I know, and I always asked her if I didn't know how to make something. Such is the case with the sweets typical of my region, Maracaibo: Dulce de Icacos and Dulce de Limonzón. Dulce de Limonzón is the most difficult to make, not because of the process, but because many people don't know the secret to keeping it from tasting bitter.
The Limonzón is a pear-shaped citrus fruit about 15 centimeters tall with a white pulp, which is what's cooked. The secret is to remove the skin without leaving any of the rind, because like the lemon, it's what makes it bitter. Then, bring it to a boil and drain the water when it starts to boil. Do this five times. In the last boiling water, add the sugar, cinnamon, and cloves and wait for the syrup to thicken. And then the delicious Limonzón Jam is ready.
3️⃣ If you were told you had won a scholarship to study or learn something new, what would you like to learn and why?
In February, I took the Virtual Assistant course, but I feel like I was missing something to put it into practice since working virtually from home isn't as easy as it seems.
What I'd most like to do is have a remote job that I can do from the comfort of my home. If I were given the opportunity to study,
I'd like to complement the course with some good practice that will help me leave prepared with a job in the offing.
Another option I have is to study Modern Languages, since everything is taught remotely these days, I could do it from my computer. I think it would be easy for me since I have a basic understanding of English. I could work as a translator, either in person or remotely, which is a good, well-paid job.
