An afternoon with my best friend and some beers | #BeerSaturday [ENG/ESP]

Hi everyone, today I'm here to share a bit of a relaxing afternoon of conversation between my best friend and me, over a few cold beers. To start, my friend and I haven't gotten together for a few weeks to talk about everything, and lately we've been talking about how we'll soon be celebrating 10 years of friendship, so there was something we hadn't done together in all this time: have a beer.

Hola a todos, hoy les vengo a compartir un poco de una tarde de charla y tranquilidad entre mi mejor amigo y yo, en compañía de unas cervezas bien frías. Para comenzar, mi amigo y yo teníamos algunas cuantas semanas de no reunirnos a hablar un poco de todo y últimamente hemos estado hablando de que pronto cumpliremos 10 años de amistad, por lo que había algo que en todo este tiempo no habíamos hecho juntos, que era tomar alguna cerveza.

And there's a very interesting explanation for this: he's not very tolerant of alcohol. Just an ice cream or some drink with a little bit of it is already quite affecting him. So, after a long time, I had the opportunity to see him in that state. This time, he chose the beers, and although I had already tried the brown beer, I happily agreed to try it again. This time, I was surprised that he bought the small version of it for him, called Morenita, since it comes in 250 ml.

Y esto tiene una explicación bien interesante, y es que él no es muy tolerante con el alcohol, con decir que un helado o alguna bebida que contenga un poco ya le está afectando bastante, por lo que luego de mucho tiempo, pues se dio la oportunidad de verlo estar en ese estado. En esta oportunidad las cervezas las eligió él y, pues, aunque ya había probado yo la cerveza morena, pues acepté con gusto degustarla una vez más, y en esta ocasión me sorprendió que compró para él la presentación pequeña de esta con el nombre Morenita, ya que es una presentación de 250 ml.

And indeed, the smallest one, due to his alcohol tolerance, was the one my friend chose (as I mentioned in my previous post, this one comes in three versions: a bottle, a 355 ml can, and a 250 ml can). And here's something curious: as I mentioned, this beer is characterized by a somewhat bitter and even toasty flavor, as well as its intense aroma and the effervescent element that predominates for a long time. I could taste all of these elements even more intensely, but my friend couldn't perceive the flavor.

Y en efecto, la más pequeña, por la condición de tolerancia al alcohol, fue la que eligió mi amigo (como ya les había comentado en mi anterior post, esta viene en tres presentaciones: botella, lata de 355 ml y lata de 250 ml). Y acá pasó algo curioso, y es que, como comenté, esta cerveza se caracteriza por un sabor algo amargo e incluso tostado, así como su gran intensidad en aroma y la parte efervescente que predomina por mucho tiempo; pues yo pude sentir incluso más intenso todos estos elementos, pero mi amigo no pudo percibir el sabor de la misma.

However, this didn't allow us to enjoy the moment, so my friend's mom gave us a piece of cake to go with the beer. In my case, I found this curious, since for some reason I've never been one to mix sweets with beer, but it was a good time to try it. And I must say that, for me, it was a very good combination, as the bitterness and the tang accentuated the taste of the cake even more. In this case, I didn't taste the sweetness, but it intensified the flavor and made it more pleasant.

Sin embargo, esto no nos permitió disfrutar del momento, para lo cual la mamá de mi amigo nos dio un pedazo de torta para acompañar la cerveza. En mi caso se me hizo curioso, ya que por alguna razón nunca me ha dado por mezclar dulce con cerveza, pero era un buen momento para hacer la prueba. Y en esto debo decir que, en lo que a mí respecta, fue una muy buena combinación, pues lo amargo y el sabor acentuaban más el sabor de la torta; en este caso, yo no sentí este dulce, sino que subió el sabor y lo hizo agradable.

And in my friend's case, it was quite the opposite; this made him perceive the cake as intensely sweet and distinct. In his case, he does like sweet things, which wasn't a problem; however, the way we perceived the flavors was quite striking, considering it was the same beer, just in a different presentation. I was somewhat expectant, since he had bought another beer for my friend's dad and was waiting for it to arrive so I could taste it like my friend and I, but unfortunately, it arrived a little late.

Y en el caso de mi amigo fue todo lo contrario; esta hizo que percibiera la torta con un dulce intenso y claro. En su caso, él sí es de comer dulce, lo cual no fue problema; sin embargo, fue bastante llamativo el cómo percibimos los sabores, teniendo en cuenta que era la misma cerveza, solo que en presentación distinta. Yo estaba algo expectante, ya que se había comprado otra cerveza para el papá de mi amigo y esperaba que llegara para saber si podía catarla como mi amigo y yo, pero lastimosamente llegó algo tarde.

I must say that, first of all, mixing beer with sweets was a new experience for me, as I felt it could enhance the effect. However, with this beer, the flavor was enhanced without being overpowered, which was a good thing. And for my friend, who doesn't drink much and has a low tolerance, this beer was quite good for him to laugh and not be adversely affected by the alcohol, which heightens my appreciation for it.

Debo decir que, en primera, es una nueva experiencia mezclar cerveza con dulces para mí, ya que sentía que podía potenciar el efecto; sin embargo, con esta cerveza, mejoró el sabor sin potenciar, lo cual fue bueno. Y lo que es para mi amigo, siendo de poco tomar y de poca tolerancia, esta cerveza le sentó bastante bien para estar con risas y no estar afectado de mala manera por el alcohol, lo cual eleva mi apreciación de esta.
