PhotoFeed Contest - Wildlife Photography Round 137: Green-Maned Chameleon

avatar

Hello friends at the hive!

The green-maned chameleon (Bronchocela jubata) is a species of tree lizard in the Agamidae family that is widespread across the Indonesian archipelago. This lizard belongs to the same family as the flying geckos (Draco spp.) and the soa-soa (Hydrosaurus spp.). Local names for the green-maned chameleon include: bengkarung surai (Malay), chameleon (Javanese), and londok or lunduk (Sundanese). Source: https://id.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunglon_surai

When I was little, this type of chameleon often surprised me by suddenly appearing in front of me whenever I climbed a guava tree. Its ability to camouflage itself often led my friends and I to mistake it for a leaf.
