Hello, ladies of the community π This is my third post in the community.
In the 265th round of the LADIES OF HIVE contest, hosted by the community and judged by judges and questioner @saffisara, I chose the first theme, which was second chances.
I believe that every human being, especially women, has life experiences that lead us to imagine what a second chance would be like if given. Whether it's a happy or sad experience.
So, would I have the desire to do something if a second chance were possible?
The answer is yes. First, I had a bitter experience that left me quite hurt and disappointed. The disappointment and pain were because the perpetrator wasn't someone far away, but a close friend.
Second, if there were a second chance, I would want to forgive the mistake my friend made. A mistake that almost cost me my marriage to my husband. I couldn't forgive her then, but these past few months, I've been wishing I could turn back time and get a second chance. I would forgive my friend.
My friend did feel guilty and admitted it. She sent me several letters apologizing in person, but I didn't respond until we parted ways because she moved to another city.
It hurts to think about those events. When I didn't give my friend a second chance, when I didn't respond to her apology letters, and when I learned of her death. After all, she was my friend. A friend from childhood until she graduated from college. A friend who helped me immensely.
Even though her mistake almost ruined my happy day, I realized that holding onto hatred and resentment is not good. And sadly, my friend is no longer here, having passed away from an illness in early 2025. I want to live without the burden of hatred. So, to ease my anxiety, I always make time to visit my friend's grave and pray for her.
This incident taught me the good values ββI've always taught her about apologizing and forgiving. I don't want my children to grow up holding hatred and resentment. This world is already filled with too much hatred and resentment; I want to fill it with the values ββof love and compassion.
To my dear friend far away, I love you and miss you.
