The festival at Angulugaha Pantharama Viharaya on Poya Day.

Good morning to all Hive friends. On the recent Poya Day, the Agulgaha Pantharama Viharaya, located near our village, was filled with a festive and serene atmosphere. From the morning onwards, the temple and its surrounding premises were graced by numerous devoted Buddhists, carrying flowers and offerings, creating a deep sense of religious devotion.

When our family arrived, we entered the Buddha shrine carrying a garland of flowers in our hands and a bouquet of fresh river flowers. Inside the temple, a calm and sacred fragrance filled the air. When the chief monk of the temple began the Poya Day sermon, everyone respectfully took their seats and listened attentively to the Dhamma. Along with this, we too felt a deep sense of spiritual connection in experiencing the teachings of the Buddha.

On this night, amidst the gentle breeze and the fragrance of flowers blooming around the temple, we could witness the religious and social unity that prevailed throughout the duration of the festival. This occasion reminded us of how strong the togetherness, love, and religious faith among the villagers truly are. My sister also joined me in participating in this event.

Another special attraction of the festival was the “Flower Balloon Display.” Beautifully crafted garlands of flower balloons were released into the sky, spreading a delightful fragrance throughout the temple grounds. These flower balloons had been made collaboratively by both children and adults. The joy felt while watching them is truly beyond words.

When we participated in this event at night, upon stepping outside the temple premises, we were able to witness a beautifully adorned procession that was part of the festival. There were illuminated decorations, the monks of the monastery along with the chief prelate, a children’s “Daham Mal” (offering of flowers) procession, and a colorful backdrop that moved along the route. All the villagers had gathered together, watching the parade with joy and reverence.

Even though the festival has ended, the respect, serenity, and spiritual joy we experienced will remain peacefully in our hearts for a long time. The poya day celebration at Angulugaha Pantharama Temple bestowed a serene and graceful depth upon our minds and souls, leaving us with an unforgettable memory.
