Let's prepare a spicy shrimp fry in the village style.
Good morning to all my dear Hive friends!
Seafood lovers, get ready for a fiery delight! Today, I’m going to prepare a spicy prawn fry that bursts with bold flavors. This recipe is a flavorful twist that captures the essence of Sri Lanka’s coastal cooking — combining succulent prawns, aromatic spices, and a surprise ingredient at the end: freshly grated coconut. It’s quick, packed with taste, and absolutely perfect when served with steaming hot rice or roti.
Required Ingredients...
🍀 200g of washed and cleaned shrimp.
🍀 4 Tablespoon of Grated Coconut.
🍀 Two or three pieces of cinnamon.
🍀 2 Onion.
🍀 Two or three cloves of garlic.
🍀 1 teaspoon of chili powder.
🍀 2 teaspoon crushed chili powder.
🍀 1/2 Teaspoon of fenugreek seed.
🍀 1/2 Teaspoon of turmeric powder.
🍀 1/2 Teaspoon of Mustard seed.
🍀 1 teaspoon of pepper powder.
🍀 Salt as needed.
🍀 Coconut oil for frying.
Method of making....
First, place the cleaned prawns into a bowl. Add a little turmeric powder, chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt, then mix everything well. Next, add about 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil and mix again thoroughly.
Next, finely slice the onions, garlic, and green chilies.
Now, take the marinated prawns and place a pan on the stove. Add about 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, and once the oil is heated, lightly fry the prawns until they are cooked through.Set the fried prawns aside for now.
Next, take a pan and add about two tablespoons of coconut oil. Place it on the stove and allow the oil to heat. Once the oil is hot, add fenugreek seeds,Mustard seed, cinnamon, garlic, and onions, and sauté them well.
Next, add the previously fried prawns to the pan. Add chili powder and fresh green chilies to it, and mix everything well.
Finally, add a bit of freshly grated coconut to the dish and mix it well. After cooking for about 2 more minutes, remove it from the heat.
So, preparing this dish is quite easy. With the final touch of freshly grated coconut, this spiced prawn fry reaches a whole new level of flavor and texture. It’s vibrant, aromatic, and deeply satisfying—perfect as a special lunch or dinner that brings the taste of the ocean right to your plate. Give it a try and enjoy warmth and richness in every bite.
Happy cooking!
