Here's my contribution to BeerSaturday 444 with my beer purchased from the Trècarré brewery during my few days in Saint-Côme, see Wednesday Walk: Coolbox at Val Saint-Côme. It's their Stout, which I drank on my first evening at ski resort's Coolbox after unpacking and hitting the slopes the evening.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 444 avec ma bière achetée à la brasserie Trècarré lors de mes quelques jours à Saint-Côme, voir Wednesday Walk : Coolbox at Val Saint-Côme. Il s'agit de leur Stout bue lors de ma première soirée à la Coolbox après avoir rangé les affaires et descendu quelques pentes de ski.

Here is a map of Quebec where I can show you the exact location of the brewery. Trècarré is located in the town of Saint-Côme, about a ten-minute drive from the ski resort.

Voici la carte du Québec ou je peux vous montrer précisément la localisation de la brasserie. Trècarré se trouve dans le ville Saint-Côme à une dizaine minutes en voiture de la station de ski.

Before going to the station, as I was early, only at 4pm could I pick up the keys to the Coolbox, I stopped at the brewery to have a beer, a fairly light IPA, then take a few cans from their shop for the rest of the stay.

Avant d'aller à la station, comme j'étais en avance, seulement à 16h je pouvais récupérer les clefs de la Coolbox, je me suis arrêté à la brasserie pour prendre une bière, une IPA assez légère puis prendre quelques canettes à leur boutique pour le reste du séjour.

📜 Brewery / Brasserie :

Trècarré was founded in 2017 by Marc Cloutier and Pascal Fiset, two friends who had been brewing their own beer for about twenty years. They were helped with the financing by two other friends, Jean-Philippe Kiernan and Pierre-Hugues Marsolais. Since the brewery occupies a former restaurant/catering space, they also offer food, which I unfortunately haven't had the chance to try. A good concept for bringing life to a rural village.

For your information, a trècarré is a plot of land that has been cleared of trees and then left to regenerate into forest and orchards. Hunters and loggers often stop there. (source: Trècarré).

Trècarré a été fondée en 2017 par Marc Cloutier et Pascal Fiset par deux amis qui brassaient leur propre bière depuis une vingtaine d'années. Ils ont été aidé par deux autres amis pour le financement Jean-Philippe Kiernan et Pierre-Hugues Marsolais. Comme la brasserie occupe un ancien restaurant traiteur, il y a aussi une offre pour manger que je n'ai malheureusement pas essayé. Bon concept pour animer un village de campagne.

Pour info, un trècarré est un lopin de terre déboisé, puis abandonné à la forêt et aux verges. Les chasseurs et les bûcherons y font escale. (source : Trècarré).

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

The Stout from Trècarré contains 5.1% alcohol with an IBU of 33. In the glass, it has a beautiful black color topped with a brown head. On the palate, for a dark beer, it's quite light with a lingering coffee flavor. It's easy to drink. It certainly helped wash away the day's fatigue 😀.

La Stout de Trècarré contient 5.1% d'alcool avec un IBU de 33. Dans le verre, on retrouve une belle robe noire surmontée d'une mousse brune. En bouche, pour une bière noire, elle est assez légère avec un gout persistant de café. Elle se boit facilement. Elle a su éliminer la fatigue de la journée 😀.

Design

The design of Trècarré is quite similar across all their cans, as you'll notice in the upcoming #BeerSaturday posts. A silver background with the shadows of tall trees, the beer's name on the front, and the beer's various characteristics on the back. Quite interesting.

Le design de Trècarré est assez similaire sur toutes leurs canettes comme vous allez le remarquer dans les prochains #BeerSaturday. Un fond argenté avec l'ombre de grands arbres avec le nom de la bière devant et au dos les différentes caractéristiques de la bière. Plutôt intéressant.
