My first pocket money story

My first pocket money story was when I was in the secondary school as a boarding student. Back then whenever we go to school, our parents always made sure to put some amount of money with our principal who is also our bursary.

So that whenever we need money we can go to her to collect and use for whatever we need which includes church offerings, buying of notes, textbooks, menstrual pads, snacks, and some other things. No doubt, this was like our bank account where we would go every friday if you needed money but if you should miss the opportunity you have to wait till the next week.

In other words, based on the prompt on our first pocket money story I remember when I started school in Jss1 for the beginning of my secondary school education that was when I realized that my parents had kept money for me somewhere that I can withdraw anytime I want. I was actually happy about this at first when I discovered because it felt like I had money to myself and I can do anything. Although, our principal always investigates what we want to use the money for or before giving it to us because most people use them to buy contrabands.

This process of keeping money carried on to my SS3 and it was really a great way to save my pocket money as keeping them with me in my dormitory could be dangerous, it could lead to overspending and people can steal your money.

So this was my first pocket money story and the first money I earned was when I was living with my auntie in Lagos and I was assisting her with her NGO that had to deal with Orphaned kids and motherless babies and in this process she encouraged me by paying me a stipend of 25,000 Naira back then and I think that was when I started earning and I am thankful for growth over the years.
