A Day Without Light in Nigeria

People living in Nigeria can totally relate to the stories of not having electricity for a day or more. For those of us that grew up in this country would have been accustomed to the famous phrase of up nepa, it is a popular saying amongst the people born out of the excitement that comes when electricity is restored.
Electricity is regulated in ways that even I cannot explain but what I know is that we cannot boast of 24 hours light in my country. In other words, there are days when there will be total blackouts for days or even weeks, the struggle that we face with power supply is one that cannot be explained in a specially as it affects people personally and business wise. There are many businesses that has folded up because of lack of electricity to sustain the kind of Enterprise that engage in.
As I write this prompt, it's been 3 days since we last had electricity supply and it has been a hassle ever since then. Usually, because of lack of electricity we go to bed feeling the heat because there is no fan to help control it. The morning struggles has been so bad that instead of pumping water to automatically run the taps and showers in the house, we have resulted to fetching water from the well using buckets. Again, going to work and getting the kids ready for school involves ironing of clothes and uniforms which is not possible because of lack of electricity hences we have to settle for rumpled clothes.
Another traumatic experience we encounter because of No Light Is the issue of our foods getting spoiled because the fridge is not powered. Normally, we would buy food stuffs in bulk especially the Edible ones and store them in the fridge so that they would last for days or even weeks but when we encounter problems with electricity like this we end up getting spoiled foods like meat, grinded Pepe, fish, vegetables and so on. Because of this issue, we are forced to bring them out from the fridge and cook them at once so as to avoid waste and this could bring about using up too much gas.
Subsequently, Businesses suffer a huge loss when there is no electricity, businesses like welders, barbers, cold room, computer centers, restaurants and tailors are forced to close shop or spend much monies buying fuel to power up generators, hence things become expensive for people to buy.
