DTIYS Entry: Leona Lemondrop

Hey creative friends,

I'm sharing my entry for the DTIYS Challenge.
For my version, I really wanted to give the character a slightly different personality. I want a fun free spirited creature with a common task or job like a messenger. I also made her able to fly using her green coat and can glide like a flying squirrel.

Lore:

Leona Lemondrop, is a nimble forest messenger, she glides through the trees with a leather satchel slung over her shoulder, carrying messages and seeds between the woodland realms. Her hat, shaped like the peduncle of a lemon fruit, crowns her vibrant purple hair, while her carved wooden shoes tap lightly against the branches as she moves. She is a creative creature, she thrives under the sun, her radiant colors blossoming from the energy it provides. With each sunny day, she recharges, delivering her messages with grace, her spirit as bright as the orchard she calls home.

Here is how I made her:

Made a sketch of her in flight as I want that ability to show in the drawing

The shape of her hat changed a little so her head would look like it was crowned. I gave her a tiny nose and made her wooden shoes bigger. The coat now is looking like a cape for flying not just an ordinary piece of clothing.

For the base colors I kept the colors from the reference image I love them and I did not want to make a drastic change.

Thanks to our host for creating such an inspiring piece. It was a good experience recreating a cute character like Leona. What do you guys think of my take on it? Hope you will also join this creative challenge.
