Mostly Laundry and Mud - March 9, 2026@goldenoakfarm

On Monday morning I sure wasn’t moving too fast. I was up at 5AM and got laundry started so I’d have something to wear to exercise class. I was closely supervised because he’d decided it was breakfast time. It wasn’t, not for an hour.
By 8AM I had decided it wasn’t brilliant to go to class, then to an event, then PT, then do a estate class in the evening. So I called my neighbor and said I wasn’t doing exercise.
I spent the morning getting my post up and doing lots of laundry. I’d decided to do all the bedding so I had lots of loads.

Mole tunnels from under the snow

The event was Winter Ducks and she had nice photos of males and females and taught us to look for field marks when trying to identify birds. From there I went to PT where I worked hard because I’d skipped exercise class.

The driveway is just a mess of mud and snow but it’s nowhere near as bad as when we first moved here in 1983. Back then we had to walk in the mud to the barn in the spring because it was so deep we couldn’t drive. All the 100 lb grain sacks were carried up the driveway as we had horses back then.
By the time I got home the snow had mostly melted from the South garden. That’s a protected area facing south. But the big gardens are still deep in snow.

I sat down and rested a while then made supper and got the shades pulled early and the fires laid. Then we got the laptop working for the estate class. That went really well and I got 2 pages of notes.
They also sent a copy of the slide show and a recording of what the business advisor said.

The Back Porch garden has been mostly clear for a while, so maybe I’ll get to that in the next couple days.

I checked the temperature at 6PM and that’s what these 2 read. I think the north one was probably correct for a change. (Both of these are new!)
I finally got to bed at 9:30PM once the stoves were going well. I had nearly finished all the laundry washing and drying.
On Tuesday it’s to hit 70F so I am hoping to get out in the gardens again and clean out at least the South garden. My helper friend is coming for 10:30AM and he has errands and chores and watering house plants to do. I’ll probably be outside. I have an appointment late afternoon.
I’ll have to light the stoves again and I hope I can get to bed earlier.

I like how you shared the mix of everyday tasks like laundry along with something interesting like the bird identification event.
Glad to see that you got the warm temps and got to do some gardening. You have more headed your way from us, lol.
