Has anyone ever asked you the question, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" This is a common riddle joke but is seen as anti-humor because the set up of the question makes the listener expect some witty answer, but instead is given a simple statement of fact, which is: "To get to the other side." The joke has become quintessential and a classic ideal joke to which most people know the answer to but has been repeated and changed numerous times over the course of history.

The traditional answer to this riddle "Why did the chicken cross the road?" is actually "To get to the other side". But this has not stopped people, including famous ones, from giving answers that are related to their field or discipline.

Albert Einstein: "Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road crossed the chicken depends upon your frame of reference". (Google Search)

Aristotle: "To actualise its potential". (Google Search)

Isaac Newton: "Chickens at rest tend to stay at rest. Chickens in motion tend to cross the road". (Google Search)

My own answer, "To avoid the rooster stalking it."
