I am amazed with how much these male creatures, machos of the domesticated fowls, are so prevalent and common in our part of town. They come in all forms, color and sizes. But what really piques my interest in them is the various shapes of their top or what we normally call their combs. And no matter how I try to establish a correlation between the cock's make, color, size and the shape of its comb, I end up with zilch. Zero correlation. It's like trying to explain a person's hair based on his size, height, color and weight.

Here's what I am trying to say. This is a cock I see almost everytime I jog in this park. It is red and black with a tinge of yellow or orange.

Notice its comb. Not too big. Not too elaborate. But look at the next cock in the photo below with almost the same color and size.

What a difference in comb. Now the next one, in the photo below, is also similar in size and color but look at its comb.

You could say this is the equivalent of people with no hair or almost balding or bald. Remember Telly Savalas? Here's the next one with a similar color but with a different comb.

Do you think a cock's top or comb is like a human fingerprint which is unique and different from another? Could be.

The last photo below shows another type of comb without those pointed sharp tines of the previous photos. Also, the rooster has a different color. White.

Now isn't he cute?

Anyways, after all this, I can safely conclude that although cock's top will be different from each other, they have one basic feature. They are all red. (At least those that aren't bald.)

My entry to this Round is the last photo.

All for now and may you all have a blessed Sunday.

Honestly I never looked closely at their combs and how different they might be. Such an interesting observation and such a wonderful post.
