Has it ever happened to you that you go to a place for which you have a super high expectation, and when you get there you say, 'Is that all?' I hope I'm not the only one, because I don't know if I've become old or if my mind no longer processes novelty, uniqueness, and it seemed like a complete disappointment compared to the place I'm going to tell you about next.
My J.J. is a pizza lover; he can solve all his meals with a slice, and his life improves noticeably. In my city, there are many places that sell pizza, and the best part is that some have a view of the sea, perfect for watching the sunset.
I had seen this place on social media, and we decided to go because they had them at a good price, and the photos, WOW!, we loved them. The place is called Tiki Bar, and it is located in the city of Lechería, Venezuela. Here I share my experience.
Les ha pasado que van a un sitio que tienen una expectativa superalta del mismo y cuando llegan dicen: "¿Eso es todo?" Espero no ser la única, porque no sé si ya me volví vieja o mi mente ya no procesa lo novedoso, lo único, y me pareció una completa disyuntiva del sitio que les hablaré a continuación.
Mi J.J. es amante de la pizza; toda su comida la puede resolver con un pedazo y su vida mejora notablemente. En mi ciudad, existen muchos sitios donde venden y lo mejor es que algunos son con vista al mar, listos para el atardecer.
Yo había visto este sitio por las redes sociales y nos propusimos ir porque las tenían a buen precio y las fotos, ¡WOW!, nos encantaron. El sitio se llama Tiki Bar y se encuentra en la ciudad de Lechería, Venezuela. Acá les cuento mi experiencia.
Pizza and beer. Definitely, the pizza is a 10/10. Just the way we like it, with a spectacular and juicy flavor. We ordered a pizza with corn, bell pepper, onion, ham, and black olives. The only size they offer is medium, so it was enough for the two of us.
The food is the only thing that should matter when we visit a place, meaning that it is on time, meets our expectations, and is truly what they advertise on social media. It had all of that, so we were very satisfied with that part 😉.
Lo bueno
La pizza y la cerveza. Definitivamente, la pizza tiene un 10/10. Justo como nos gusta, con un sabor espectacular y jugoso. Pedimos una pizza con maíz, pimentón, cebolla, jamón y aceitunas negras. La única medida que manejan es mediana, así que fue suficiente para nosotros dos.
La comida es lo único que debería importar cuando visitamos un sitio, es decir, que esté a tiempo, que cumpla con lo que esperamos y sea verdaderamente la oferta que dan en las redes sociales. Todo eso lo tenía, así que muy satisfechos por esa parte 😉.
The beer was also good. It was cold and they have variety. I believe that all street food, like pizza, should be accompanied by a good beer. So 100/100 for that part.
La cerveza también fue buena. Estaba fría y tienen variedad. Yo considero que toda comida de calle, como la pizza, debe ser acompañada de una buena cerveza. Así que 100/100 por esa parte.
The tree of life. I liked that instead of destroying it, they took it as part of the decoration, and I didn't miss the opportunity to "hug my tree." I didn't have time to talk to it, but it is an activity that I try to do more often now.
El árbol de la vida. Me gustó que en vez de destruirlo, lo tomaran como parte de la decoración y no perdí la oportunidad de "abrazar mi árbol". No me dio tiempo de hablar con él, pero es una actividad que procuro realizar ahora más seguido.

Unfortunately, I didn't want to focus on so many negative things, but I left feeling stunned.
First of all, the place. I don't know if it's because electricity is very expensive or that young people nowadays "prefer the dark," but it was so dark that I felt trapped, unsafe, with no sense of trust. Being a fishing area, near the sea, and a house converted into a restaurant, I felt like a spider or the dreaded cockroaches would jump at me. Also, a cat kept jumping and positioning itself all over the restaurant.
Lo no tan bueno
Lamentablemente, no quería enfocarme en tantas cosas negativas, pero salí como aturdida.
En primer lugar, el local. No sé si es porque la electricidad está muy costosa o los jóvenes de ahora "prefieren lo oscuro", pero era tanta oscuridad que me sentía como atrapada, insegura, nada de confianza. Por ser una zona pesquera, cerca del mar, y una casa convertida en restaurante, sentí que me saltaría una araña o las temidas cucarachas. Además, un gato no dejaba de saltar y ubicarse en todo el restaurante.
Secondly, the harassment for taking our beers, as if they were charging us for being there. It is true that the more you consume, the more profit for the company, but when you haven't even had half and they are already hovering around you to make you consume more, I found it uncomfortable. When we go out on motorcycles, we can't drink much alcohol; we only go out to enjoy and eat, but I think they didn't understand that part.
En segundo lugar, el acoso por tomarnos las cervezas, como si nos cobraran por estar allí. Es cierto que mientras más consumas, más ganancias para la empresa, pero que no lleves ni la mitad y ya te anden rondando para que consumas más, me pareció incómodo. Nosotros cuando andamos en moto no podemos consumir mucho alcohol; solo salimos a disfrutar y comer, pero creo que ellos no entendieron esa parte.
I believe that if I go to someone's house, I should not criticize their manners or decorations, but in this case, instead of taking advantage of nature, they saturated it with totem figures or statues that were frightening; it seemed as if they were dedicating a cult to some deity. I tried to take some photographs; however, I did not feel comfortable.
Yo considero que si voy a la casa de alguien, no debo criticar sus modos o decoraciones, pero en este caso, en vez de aprovechar la naturaleza, la saturaron con figuras de tótem o estatuas que lo que daban era miedo; parecía como que le estaban dedicando un culto a alguna deidad. Yo intenté tomarme algunas fotografías; sin embargo, no me sentía cómoda.
The truth is that it was an unpleasant experience because the beauty or tastiness of the place was overshadowed by my discomfort with the space and its decoration. I learned that many times it is not the ostentatious or novel things (as they portray on social media), but feeling comfortable where I am and with what I eat.
Would I go back? No. Although the pizza is worth it.
Conclusiones
La verdad que fue una experiencia poco agradable porque lo bonito o sabroso del lugar se vio opacado por mi incomodidad del espacio y su decoración. Aprendí que muchas veces no es lo ostentoso ni lo novedoso (como lo pintan en las redes), sino sentirme a gusto donde estoy y con lo que como. ¿Volvería? No. Aunque la pizza vale la pena.
