ZINGTOBER Day 20 - "Rivals" [ENG-ESP]

Hello friends of Holozing, I hope you are all doing well. Today I want to participate in the Zingtober event. The word I'm going to draw next is "Rivals," which represents a competition, a confrontation, or a battle. Many things can be done with this word, so I'll share what I imagine. I was thinking about a battle at sea, like in ancient times, between sailors and pirates. It seemed cool to me, so I chose Wrackoo and Glimmo, each on their ship ready for war. I'll briefly tell you how I did it.

Hola amigos de Holozing, espero que se encuentren muy bien hoy quiero participar en el evento Zingtober, la palabra que voy hacer a continuación como dibujo es "Rivals" lo que la idea de una competición, un enfrentamiento o una batalla, muchas cosas pueden hacerse con esta palabra así que comentaré lo que yo imagine. Estuve pensando en una batalla en el mar, como en los tiempos antiguos, entre marineros y piratas, se me hizo algo genial, así que elegí Wrackoo y a Glimmo, cada uno en su barco listo para la guerra, les comentaré brevemente como lo hice.

I started by making a sketch. First, I drew Wrackoo, wearing the military attire worn by sailors, like a hat and a sword. I replaced one of his hands with a hook, like the villain in Peter Pan, hehe. Next, I began drawing his little ship with a sail in the air. I also drew Glimmo, but I did it while looking through binoculars at Wrackoo's enemy ship approaching.

Comencé haciendo un boceto, en primer lugar fui dibujan do a Wrackoo, con atuendos militares que utilizan los marineros, como el sombrero, una espada, y una de sus manos la reemplacé por un garfio, como el malvado de Peter Pan jeje. Seguidamente comencé a dibujar a su pequeño barco con una vela al aire. así también fui dibujando a Glimmo, pero lo hice mirando con unos prismáticos como se va acercando el barco enemigo de Wrackoo.

Once I've completed both sketches of each character, I begin outlining Wrackoo with a pen. It's as if the pen were a pencil. This way, I add shape, contrast, and shadows. Then, with a marker, I finish fleshing out the drawing. You can see how, little by little, line by line, I draw each edge and add shadows.

Una vez que ya he realizado ambos boceto de cada uno de los personajes, comienzo a delinear con un bolígrafo a Wrackoo, es como si el bolígrafo fuera el lápiz, así voy dando forma, contraste y sombras, y luego con un marcador termino de darle cuerpo al dibujo. Pueden ver como poco a poco, línea a línea voy dibujando cada borde y agregando sombras.

Next, I begin applying the same process to Glimmo's ship and the ship itself. Although they have similar outfits, there are some things that differentiate them, which is why I added binoculars, something sailors used to monitor the sea and see when enemies were approaching. Then, with the thicker-tipped marker, I begin to outline certain parts, so the drawing has more contrast.

Seguidamente el mismo proceso anterior comienzo a aplicar en el barco de Glimmo y a él propiamente, aunque tienen atuendos similares hay cosas que los diferencian, por eso hice los prismáticos, algo que hacían los marineros para vigilar el mar y ver cuando se acercaban los enemigos. Luego con el marcador de punta más gruesa comienzo a dlinear ciertas partes, así el dibujo tiene más contraste.

Then, using the thicker marker, I added contrast. For each character's clothing, I used a ballpoint pen to add contrast and shading, while for the rest of the lines, like the ship and sails, I used a marker. Another detail I added was the flags with the Zing emblem, as well as the ocean waves and the entire seascape.

Así luego con el marcador más grueso le fui dando contraste, para la ropa de cada uno utilicé un bolígrafo para darle contraste y sombras, en cambio para el resto de líneas, como el barco y las velas utilicé el marcador. Otro detalle que agregué fueron las banderas con el emblema de Zing, así también las olas del mar y todo el paisaje marino.

What did you think of the result? Honestly, this word from the 20th gave me a lot of ideas. I was also thinking of doing a tribute to Star Wars with a battle between the Empire's fighters and the Resistance, but in the end I chose something classic like a battle at sea. ¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado? La verdad que esta palabra del día 20 me dió muchas ideas, también había pensando hacer un homenaje a Star Wars con una batalla entro los cazas del imperio y la resistencia, pero al final elegí algo clásico como una batalla en el mar.
