В белёвском музее «Старые традиции» мы узнали как готовится знаменитая белёвская пастила. Но Белёв Тульской области славился не только этой замечательной сладостью. Здесь были различные промыслы, в которых мастера заслужили в своё время признание по всей России. Здесь изготавливали глиняные белёвские игрушки. А ещё плели белёвские кружева. In the Belev Museum "Old Traditions" we learned how the famous Belev pastila is made. But Belev in the Tula Region was famous not only for this wonderful sweet. There were various crafts here, in which the craftsmen earned recognition throughout Russia at one time. Clay Belev toys were made here. And Belev lace was also woven.
О кружевах нам рассказала замечательная местная мастерица. A wonderful local craftswoman told us about lace.

Пока музейный рассказчик нас вводил в курс дела, кружевница плела кружева, позвякивая коклюшками. While the museum narrator was introducing us to the subject, the lace maker was woven lace, jingling her bobbins.

Но вот ей дали слово. Она нам подробно рассказала, как из подручных средств можно изготовить всё, нужное для плетения. But then she was given the floor. She told us in detail how everything needed for weaving can be made from improvised means.
Так, валик, на котором плетутся кружева, можно сделать из пластиковой трубы, обмотанной утеплителем. So the roller on which the lace is woven can be made from a plastic pipe wrapped in insulation.

Мы узнали об истории местного кружева. В конце 19 века белёвские кружева плели более 2000 тысяч мастериц. We learned about the history of local lace. At the end of the 19th century, Belev lace was woven by more than 2,000 craftswomen.
Сейчас осталось лишь несколько энтузиастов. Кружевница уверяла нас, что это кажущееся довольно сложным ремесло, может освоить каждый. Now there are only a few enthusiasts left. The lacemaker assured us that this seemingly rather complicated craft can be mastered by anyone.
Наиболее ценились и ценятся мастера, способные не только сплести кружево по готовой схеме, но те, кто может сам разработать новую схему. The most valued were and are those masters who are able not only to weave lace according to a ready-made pattern, but also those who can develop a new pattern themselves.

Очень трепетно кружевница держала в руках старинную коклюшку, доставшуюся ей от бабушки. The lacemaker held the old bobbin she got from her grandmother very reverently.
Всегда интересно слушать людей, которые увлечены своим делом. It is always interesting to listen to people who are passionate about their work.
