¡Hola queridas Damas de Hive! Deseo que se encuentren todas muy bien. De nuevo me paso por acá para seguir con las preguntas semanales, hoy de la mano de @irenenavarroart con preguntas que nos invitan a la reflexión.

Si tuvieras ahora mismo el poder de crear una ley única en tu país, ¿cuál sería?

Se me ocurren un millón de leyes y ninguna tan decente como podría esperarse, todas extremistas porque me encuentro enojada con lo que está pasando en mi país a nivel gobierno. Pero bueno, quitando eso, me gustaría que hubiera una ley que cumpliera lo de no vender nuestros territorios y no explotar nuestros recursos naturales. Es que tal vez no se ve a simple vista, pero en Argentina siento que nos estamos quedando sin Patagonia. Todas las provincias del sur están siendo amenazadas porque poseen recursos naturales muy codiciados y teníamos leyes que los amparaban, pero el gobierno actual las está quitando con la excusa del progreso, sin tener en cuenta o no importarle el desastre que eso traerá a mediano/largo plazo.

El ser humano se cree que es dueño de todo y no deja en paz a la naturaleza que es sabia y por algo hace lo que hace. No le importa, es egoísta y solo busca su beneficio sin tener en cuenta a cuantos perjudica en su actuar. Me da mucha bronca e impotencia porque año tras año se pierden hectáreas naturales de bosques por los incendios forestales intencionados, es muy triste de ver. En lo único que puedo pensar es en los pobres animales que mueren y los paisajes hermosos que se van perdiendo. Quisiera que hubiera una ley que de verdad prohibiera estos actos y los condenará como es debido.

¿Alguna vez ha tolerado un comportamiento abusivo por parte de alguien cercano a usted debido a la presión social? Si es así, ¿cómo lo manejaste?

Si me pongo a pensar, sí, me tocó tolerar comportamientos abusivos tan solo para evitar más problemas o no empeorar la situación. Desde tener que saludar a hombres que tenían otras intenciones conmigo en reuniones familiares, solo para evitar que me tildaran de maleducada, y de que mis padres no me criaron bien, hasta aguantar malos tratos de personas cercanas solo por no entender mis decisiones. Hoy en día ya no hago caso, sino tengo ganas de hacer algo no lo hago, si no me nace o si veo intenciones ocultas y oscuras detrás no te dejo pasar. Intento que la presión social no me afecte a la hora de vivir mi vida, después de todo yo soy la única que la va a vivir y debo estar bien con mis elecciones.

A veces uno se queda callado ante las situaciones de abuso para no empeorar las cosas, ya no soy esa chica sumisa, si veo una injusticia me gusta remarcarla. Aunque no me sienta cómoda en la confrontación, simplemente no quiero seguir tolerando comportamientos que no me gustan. Lo mismo si los veo de otras personas que no van dirigidos hacia mí, intento remarcarle el error, educar, por más que luego no me hagan caso porque si algo entendí es que no puedes hacerte cargo de los pensamientos y la forma de actuar de otras personas. Lo único que podes hacer es marcar la diferencia y estar del lado correcto.

Hello, dear Ladies of Hive! I hope you’re all doing well. I’m stopping by again to continue with our weekly questions, and today @irenenavarroart has some thought-provoking ones for us.

If you had the power to create a single law in your country right now, what would it be?

I can think of a million laws, and not a single one is as decent as one might hope; they’re all extreme because I’m angry about what’s happening in my country at the government level. But anyway, setting that aside, I’d like to see a law that actually prevents the sale of our territories and the exploitation of our natural resources. It might not be obvious at first glance, but in Argentina, I feel like we’re losing Patagonia. All the southern provinces are under threat because they possess highly coveted natural resources, and we used to have laws protecting them, but the current government is repealing them under the guise of progress, without considering or caring about the disaster that will ensue in the medium to long term.

Humans think they own everything and won’t leave nature alone—nature that is wise and does what it does for a reason. They don’t care; they’re selfish and only look out for their own interests without considering how many others they harm in the process. It makes me so angry and helpless because, year after year, acres of natural forest are lost to intentional wildfires—it’s heartbreaking to see. All I can think about are the poor animals that die and the beautiful landscapes that are being lost. I wish there were a law that would truly prohibit these acts and punish them as they deserve.

Have you ever tolerated abusive behavior from someone close to you due to social pressure? If so, how did you handle it?

When I really think about it, yes, I’ve had to put up with abusive behavior just to avoid further trouble or to keep things from getting worse. From having to greet men who had ulterior motives toward me at family gatherings—just to avoid being labeled rude or having my parents accused of raising me poorly—to enduring mistreatment from people close to me simply because they didn’t understand my decisions. These days, I don’t pay attention to that anymore. If I don’t feel like doing something, I don’t do it; if it doesn’t come naturally to me or if I see hidden, dark intentions behind it, I won’t let it slide. I try not to let social pressure affect me when it comes to living my life—after all, I’m the only one who’s going to live it, and I have to be okay with my choices.

Sometimes people stay silent in the face of abuse so as not to make things worse, but I’m not that submissive girl anymore—if I see an injustice, I like to call it out. Even though I don’t feel comfortable with confrontation, I simply don’t want to keep tolerating behavior I don’t like. The same goes for when I see it in other people—even if it’s not directed at me—I try to point out the mistake and educate them, even if they don’t listen to me later. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you can’t control other people’s thoughts or actions. The only thing you can do is make a difference and stand on the right side.
