Being a proprietress. LOH252.

Good day everyone, welcome to my blog

I can tell you for free that I have been in business since I became of age. I was raised by my grandmother whom I like to call a business woman. She sold a lot of things but she majored in provision shops. In fact, she was popularly referred to as Iya alate( The provision saler) in our neighbourhood.

She sells things ranging from bitter cola, kolanut, palm oil, walnut, oranges, plantains and goes back to her provision shop once it is dry season when there seems to be nothing to buy in bulk on the farm. During those periods, grandmother will make me hawk some of those farm products not because we were depending on the money I make to survive but because she was trying to awaken the business mind in me.

You can say that I have been in business for as long as I can remember. I have tried a couple of businesses on my own both in the affiliate market where someone will refer you and you also have to refer another person to earn to buy and sell business. Some of the things I have sold as a wholesaler are recharge cards, soft drinks, jewelry and food items to mention a few.

If given opportunity to start a new business today, I will easily divert my efforts into school business. That means I wish to be a school owner. In our part of the world, government owned schools are over populated and less taken care of. For this reason, parents who want the best for their children and could afford it takes their children to private school.

Owning a school may come with its challenges, yes I know that but in school business what we do is to render service and get paid. It is certain that pupils or students must pay tuition before they can attend so I will be rest assured that money will be made unlike in other businesses where the certainty of making sales a day is not guaranteed.

School business like every other business will need a starting and running capital but the business can begin to yield good profit from the third or fourth year with little maintenance from time to time unlike the buying and asking business which may not even stay that long before folding up.

To an extent, resources can be managed in school business. The number of teachers that will be needed to teach fifteen pupils can also teach thirty provided they fall within the same learning years. This will allow cost cutting, cutting cost can result in more profits you know?

School business can be passed from one generation to another like a family business if the school is well maintained and properly managed by experienced and skilled management and seasoned teachers.

Aside from school fees, there are other monies to be made from side businesses that are attached to school business like sales of books and stationaries, sales of school uniforms, school bus service, sales of foods and snacks and many more so tell me how one will be a school owner and be broke.

Thank you for taking your time to read through, Yours truly @elizy, a teacher, mother and passionate writer
