That One Person I'll Never Forget

Student life can be tough at one point especially for those who weren't born with a silver spoon. My study years from 2018 through 2021 were by faith, that was because I didn't want to put more burden on my parents. Even though it wasn't enough, I managed 5000 naira for a month and I tried as much as possible to survive from the little earnings I was making online. My eating schedule was 0-0-1, students who weren't financially buoyant understood this style of feeding. 0-0-1 simply means skipping morning and afternoon meals then eating dinner. This continued for a while until my food got finished two weeks before vacation.

For two days I stayed without eating. It was the first time I felt the pulsation from the veins in my eyes throb. My money was finished and it wasn't a month yet for me to call home. Just a few days left and I thought I could endure the hunger until it was month end, but it only got worse and I doubt if I would have survived that long then suddenly a friend visited. I didn't discuss anything with him but somehow he happened to know but didn't mention it.

He invited me to his place, cooked a big pot of food and allowed me to eat my fill and extra(because I was already wondering where I'll get my next food). Just when I thought the food had saved my life, he came with a polythene bag, in it was some mudu of rice and beans and gave it to me. "Manage this for the main time" was what he said. "Main time?" Bro didn't know he saved me from dying and it was a time I've never forgotten. Aside from appreciating him while I collected the meal, I never forgot him nor this day.

That was such a good friend, you should never stop appreciating him for the good he has done for you.

Appreciation for being a part of your life is something that must be done.
Some friends that made good memories for us, kept a story in our head that will forever be told.

This really moved me. Hunger during student life is something you never forget, and the relief that comes when help shows up feels like a miracle. This is the kind of kindness that stays forever.
