Ghost:Myth or Truth

As a child, we were told stories of ghosts living among men. Not all took up flesh, some came as tormentors, and stories like this lives in the heart of an African child. These aren't fables or folktales, ghosts exist, you might have met one not knowing or had not had an encounter with the spirit of someone who's dead. We call ghost yansubyi In my dialect, we believe only those who died as a result of an involvement with charms and diabolical activities appear as ghosts to people.

In my tribe, we believe only people whose death isn't associated with their deeds actually rest after death, the others roam around unrest and appear to people as ghosts. People who see them in broad daylight are people who aren't aware they're dead, else their wandering spirits go around at night. Anyone who comes across them late hours often suffers some affliction. The easiest ways to know someone's ghost roams about in the village are; sounds of stones hitting roofs at night (if one gets hit by any of the stones, they become sick and rarely survive), the second sign is the unusual cry by people the ghost encounters.

If you ever come across one, what saves you is your faith. Even though some people fortify themselves against ghosts, our spirituality is what matters the most. People are spiritually strong differently. While some are considered weak, the others are believed to be strong. There are people whom ghosts dread, while there are people who are vulnerable to them. It's our spirituality that protects us against them and the grace of God. No physical logic works. What is spiritual is handled spiritually and what's physical, handled physically. Ghosts aren't physical beings, so no physical protection works on them. Our faith should be our shield. Pray always, because while the world looks physical, it is surrosurroundedunded by spiritual forces that are beyond the physical that we see.
