"The eagle has landed" directly in my glass this #beersaturday
In addition to enjoying walks and the beach, I spent my stay in Kavala looking for a pub that serves craft beer.
At the hotel reception (and on the Internet) I asked which pubs serve craft beer, but after going to the three recommended addresses, I realized that my tasting in Kavala will be limited, because I didn't find a pub with taps anywhere in the center.
I didn't want to drink the same bottled beer in a pub that I can buy in supermarkets.
As a complete hit, while I was looking for a pub, I found a brewery, but I will write about that discovery another time, when I taste the beers I bought there 🙂.
I bought the craft beers I drank on the terrace of my hotel room in a nearby market.
In the end, the tasting was pleasant for me, I sat on the terrace and enjoyed the pleasant summer night and the interesting flavors.
First I poured a Wingman beer with 4.3% alcohol.
It's a Session IPA, a citrusy, biscuity, fruity beer, with a low percentage of alcohol.
The Eagle has landed.
This light refreshing eagle landed on my table and after a pour and a glass, it was downed in two gulps.
Pleasant medium bitterness, sufficiently hoppy, this beer has citrus, tropical notes on the smell and taste, but the foam on the beer, which retains all the nice smells and tastes, falls quickly.
For this reason, I drank the beer very quickly, I didn't let it warm up and I was nicely refreshed.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, hops, yeast.
For the production of this beer, the following hops were used:
Ahtanum, Chinook, Citra, HBC 692, Mosaic, Simcoe
Malts: Pale Ale
Style: IPA
Another beer, from the same Brawdog brewery, with a higher percentage of alcohol was Punk IPA with 5.4% alcohol.
Increased hopiness, with greater bitterness, characterizes this beer.
It's a light beer, nice color and not cloudy, which surprised me a little.
Unlike Wingman, this beer has a slightly more expressive foam in which the aromas of tropical fruits, grapefruit and pineapple remain for a longer time.
However, after tasting this beer, when my impressions settled down a bit, I don't think I would be ready to recommend it to someone.
It's not the India Pale Ale I'm used to drinking, it tastes kind of uninteresting.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, hops, yeast
Hops: Simcoe, Ahtanum, Chinook, Citra, Mosaic, Centennial
Malts: Caramalt, Pale Ale
Style: IPA
Conclusion: of the two tasted, I liked and liked Wingsman much more, which is a nice refreshing beer, and considering the lower percentage of alcohol, I could drink several bottles without being drunk.
Certainly, if you have chance to try the products of this Greek brewery, do not miss the opportunity.
Maybe you come across another Brawdog brewery product, so I'd love to hear your opinion.
