Hello, big thanks for 2nd prise. This is my new short story:

You ever get that feeling in your own house that something small is happening… but it’s happening too often to be random?
It started with the remote control.
I clearly remember leaving it on the table. Always the same spot. Not even thinking about it. But one evening… it wasn’t there. Found it on the couch. Okay, maybe I moved it. Happens.
Next day… same thing. Table → couch.

Third day… now it’s on the shelf.
Now listen… I live here. I know my habits. I don’t randomly start placing things in new places every day like I’m redecorating my own confusion.

So I started paying attention.
My father? Calm. Too calm. Watching TV like nothing is happening. Not even looking for the remote. Just… waiting. Like he already knows where it is.

And the kid? Suddenly always “finding” it first. Every time. No searching, no panic, just casually walking to the exact spot like he got the location from somewhere.
That’s when it clicked. This is not losing things. This is training.

They are slowly moving objects around the house to see how long it takes me to notice. Testing reaction time. Patience. Maybe even memory.

A controlled environment. Same house, same people… but small changes every day.
And the scariest part?
I caught myself one day doing the same thing.

I moved the remote… just a little bit. Didn’t say anything. Just waited.

Now I’m not even sure anymore…Am I the target of the experiment…or did I become part of it?

Thanks for reading!
