We are excited to welcome a new month and with it, a new creative challenge for our DIYHub community!
October is extra special this year because HiveFest 10 will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: a city surrounded by lush nature, tropical vibes, wild animals, and many happy Hivers!
So for this month, let’s celebrate the colorful energy of the tropics with this theme:

Let’s bring sunshine, color, and freshness into our creations! This month, we invite you to make something inspired by the tropics - think nature, beaches, flowers, fruits, seashells, palm leaves, or the spirit of travel and relaxation.
Why We Do This?
Hivefest brings people from all over the world together just as we do in the DIYHub community.
We may be far from each other and maybe also not possible to attend Hivefest in person, but through our crafts, we can celebrate this moment as one Hive family colorful, alive, and creative!
🌸 What Can You Create?
Here are some ideas to inspire you, but feel free to go beyond:
- DIY decorations inspired by tropical beaches or islands
- Crafts using shells, sand, or palm leaves
- Tropical flower art (hibiscus, orchids...)
- Upcycled summer items or eco-friendly travel accessories
- Colorful handmade jewelry or tropical-themed clothes
- Home décor that brings sunshine indoors
- Anything with that “vacation paradise” feeling!
🌿 Be Eco-Friendly ♻️
As always, we encourage using natural or recycled materials whenever possible.
Old bottles, wood pieces, coconut shells, fabric scraps, or broken decor can all become something beautiful again. Let’s keep our tropical paradise clean and creative 🌎
