Buttercup mauler - Splinterlands contest
Hello , Hi , Namastey to all hive users reaching this post , hope you all are doing great . So here I am back with the post for the participation in the contest by @splinterlands . The character through which I decided to make this was Buttercup mauler .
I started making this drawing 2 days before and today I am sharing this with you all . I didn't took complete 2 days , just few minutes everyday since day before yesterday 😅.
One of the things I enjoy the most about drawing characters like this is the freedom to imagine. You don’t have to copy exactly , you have to create something new , something personal . That’s why I chose to change a few details and give her a slightly dreamy look with some fantasy like elements .
So here is the process of this drawing -
Started with the sketching part . I feel like it's the heart of the artwork where all the imagination takes form on paper . I started off by making a simple sketch of the character , keeping the features similar to the original card but also adding my own creative twist. I wanted to make it look like a mystical forest girl , soft, graceful , yet strong .
Inspired by the card and its forest feel, I added a pair of short horns like those of a deer to her head , which gives her an enchanted, woodland creature vibe . I also surrounded her head with soft little flowers to enhance her magical , fairy-like look .
Then continued with the colouring parts .
As per the card , I also decided to give a green and brown shade to the dress .
Then made a little leaf design in the upper part of dress .
Simultaneously coloured flowers using yellow colour and horns using dark brown , as per the character I choosed .
After this I started making her face , this is the part I usually mess with and same goes here 🥲 . But surely one day I will do it correctly .
And here it was completed though not satisfied with the face .
Looking at the final piece , I feel proud of how it turned out . It carries a mix of my style and the character’s original personality . The process was both calming and satisfying , and that’s what art is all about . Even though there were some parts I struggled with , I learned so much during this piece and felt deeply connected to the nature-loving , gentle vibes of Buttercup Mauler.
A small personal note , while working on the artwork , there were moments where I made mistakes , felt frustrated , or wasn’t happy with a certain detail. But instead of giving up or restarting , I decided to embrace the flaws and move forward. Because in art , it’s not about perfection , it’s about expressing what you feel .
And honestly , that’s what I love most about being part of this community and the @splinterlands art contests , it motivates me to keep creating , keep learning , and keep sharing . I’ve seen so many wonderful artists here , and every week I feel inspired by them .
Thank you for visiting my post , Hope you liked this artwork . I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback . And best of luck to all other participants 😊 .
