Hive Merch with results - Smart Seed Marketing
Think different use Hive
For the up coming Event #Conf3rence in Dortmund in Germany we decided to have some sustainability Merch stuff at the Hive booth. See http://conf3rence.com for more details and as well read this post https://peakd.com/conf3rence/@detlev/smart-apps-choose-smarter-chains-unlocking-web3-with-hive for some facts.
The first impuls to this different approach came by @guiltyparties and from his idea the team @ravenmus1c and @detlev developed an overall concept. See more with the other stuff we did for the event and let me know if you need any sources for your project as we like to share the results and files.
Today I like to show "part one" and our idea to attract people with some seeds for „summerflowers“ for the next season to have a bee friendly area at their garden, veranda or balcony.
The other parts we do there go into a similar direction and will be shown in different other posts.
Most important - if you like to join on 3.rd and 4.th of September - contact @detlev who has one or two tickets for Hivians to safe the entrance fee of 199,-€ - or leave a comment here.

Sommerblumen - summer flowers
5 g to a Micro‑Meadow
This cool "rich blooming summer flower mix" brings fast and slow bloomers together, delivering quick color and a long, staggered flowering period that keeps spaces lively for months. These mixed wildflower habitats support bees and "Hivians" and butterflies with nectar and pollen, boosting local biodiversity in even small gardens or balconies.
What 5 g can do
Cover about 1–3 m² depending on density:
annual‑heavy mixes near ~5 g/m², typical meadows ~3 g/m², perennial‑heavy mixes ~1.5 g/m².Fill a large trough or pot for a concentrated color block;
choose full sun and good drainage for container success.Edge borders or paths with a light broadcast to leave plants space to develop and avoid dominance by a few vigorous species.
Create a “pollinator pocket” near an entrance or balcony to bring visible life and daily nature moments to the routine.
Planting time
Autumn and spring are both ideal:
autumn sowings benefit from warm soils and seasonal moisture, while spring sowings need consistent watering as seedlings establish. As a rule of thumb, sow at least two months before first frost for establishment, or do a “dormant” fall sowing after killing frosts in colder regions so seeds rest until spring.
Self Package
We bought a big pack and created by the work of a Hivian around 200 little bags for the event

How to grow
- Prepare sun‑lit, low‑fertility ground to a fine, firm, weed‑free tilth; let it settle to flush and remove weeds if time allows.
- Broadcast evenly (mixing seed with dry sand helps), then gently rake so seeds are just covered (~1 mm) and still exposed to light for best germination.
- Water in gently; keep evenly moist for the first 4–6 weeks in spring, and irrigate during hot spells to prevent drying.
- Sow thinly: typical guidance is ~3–5 g/m² for meadows, ~5 g/m² for annual displays, and ~1.5 g/m² for perennial‑leaning mixes.
- Containers welcome: use large pots with drainage and peat‑free compost or topsoil, keep in full sun, and water consistently while seedlings establish.
Labeling 200 bags
#HiveSunFlowers: grow together
Join the #HiveSunFlowers community challenge: share first sowing photos, weekly growth updates, and the first bloom reveal to inspire more pocket meadows everywhere. Short clips of watering routines or thinning can unlock easy wins for newcomers, and a tag‑a‑friend relay helps more people start planting. Follow the hashtag for fresh results, tips, and colorful progress stories across the season—and post whenever planted to keep the bloom wave rolling.
Helping hands
Our Hivian @coolsurfer spend around 3 hours of work to pack all this seeds, label it, sticker it. Plus, and here is his pain part, another hour to clean up all the mess he left after the work.... ;-)
A sustainable present
Seed packs are compact, affordable, and high‑impact: one small packet can transform 1–3 m² into months of color and pollinator forage—an ideal, memorable, and eco‑positive event giveaway. Encourage peat‑free compost in containers and sowing in autumn or spring to maximize success with minimal inputs and watering.
How Hive supports sustainability in crypto
Hive runs on Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) with community‑elected witnesses, producing blocks every ~3 seconds—an efficient design that avoids energy‑intensive mining while enabling fast social interactions like posts, comments, and likes. Resource Credits (RC) replace per‑transaction fees with a rechargeable bandwidth model, making everyday micro‑updates—like #HiveSunFlowers gardening logs—practical and fee‑less while deterring spam. Combined, fast blocks and fee‑less RCs encourage more on‑chain sharing with lower operational overhead and a lighter environmental footprint than Proof‑of‑Work approaches.
Quick start checklist
- Choose sun and prepare a fine, firm, weed‑free seedbed or large, draining containers.
- Broadcast 5 g over 1–3 m² depending on desired density, then lightly rake and water.
- Sow in autumn or spring; keep moist until established and during hot spells.
- Post progress with #HiveSunFlowers and follow the hashtag for tips, inspiration, and blooming results.
Happy sowing and see you under #HiveSunFlowers—where color, biodiversity, and Web3 community meet in the garden.
Smart Seed Marketing
This fresh approach to “smart marketing” sets Hive apart at every event. It’s a chance to show that Hive people are a bit different and genuinely down-to-earth, always looking for creative, supportive ways to make a positive impact. Even if these actions start small, they demonstrate how thoughtful, authentic outreach can spark interest and growth. We are a community and we start to change things.
With every little step, like handing out seed packs and encouraging #HiveSunFlowers stories, we build meaningful connections and prove that smart marketing isn’t just big budgets and flashy promotions. It’s a community attitude, sharing real inspiration and leading by example.
So, when you plant and share with the hashtag, you’re not just part of an activity, you’re helping redefine what it means to be a vibrant, responsible Hive community in the world.
Love to see your posts about your own #HiveSunFlowers stories and please make sure you tag @detlev
Have a great day everybody

Could have done 3grams of seeds to go with the block time ;)
Hehe, yeah that is as well a smart idea.
Will merge this into my stories about the seeds when presenting them
What a nice idea! And also quite a lot of work.
Is there only a logo of Hive on the package?
A link or QR could make finding Hive online easier. Maybe even a link to the Hivegarden community 🌻
very good point
Aha! 👍
Love the way you plant the Hive around the world, seed by seed. Would love to come to Dortmund, but will still be travelling at that time.
Thank you for the good work, you make for Hive.
Thanks - if we have "leftovers" we might send a few to you within Germany
Good idea and great job)
Thanks @rollie1212
was great to have you in Aachen
You've been curated by @amazingdrinks! Delegations welcome!
Linking to that deep dive with hard numbers behind why Hive fits real apps really helps move the convo past slogans. I like that you’re steering people toward concrete metrics instead of hand‑waving, since that’s what builders actually use to decide. If you had to spotlight just one datapoint from that piece for a pitch slide, which would it be? Finally, something I can send to the skeptical PM besides vibes.
The speech will be streamed and the presentation can be shared as well as the concept for the merch
Great, please share the stream link and time when it’s set. If the slides include a few hard numbers, like energy per transaction vs PoW and the unit cost per seed pack, that would be perfect. Also curious if you’ll track how many packets get planted and posts under the HiveSunFlowers tag.
Hive Sun Flowers 🌼 around the world 🌎
yeah
Wow, What a wonderful project to help the world's bees with Hive. Amazing.
Nice one 5 grms its bag.. I a bit of tiring to many bags to prepare. But nice presentation..
Some Hive seedbombs 🌱
Thanks for giving me the possibilities for pitching my concept and designing the files!! :)
You did a great job in design 🖼️ and all the communication with the manufacturers plus all that visual brainstorming 🧠
Thank you so much!! =) I appreciate it!
I'm so happy to read such enthusiastic posts like this one. Your love for Hive extends to those of us who are more passionate, and that smile at the end of the post shows that people like this are what we need. Happy start to the week bro. I hope everything goes well 🙏
This is such a brilliant and creative idea! 💖 I absolutely love the concept of smart seed marketing ✨ It's a perfect way to show how Hive is different and genuinely committed to sustainability 🙌 The challenge is a great way to bring the community together and make a positive impact 💕 Awesome work 👏
Cross posting is fine! What a great idea!
