What To Look Out For Before Renting An Apartment
So many things to look out for when a person is about to rent an apartment generally, if a person doesn’t look out for those things before the apartment then surely that person might be on his way to big trouble, personally I haven’t rented an apartment before but in all the years that I have been staying with my brother we have rented two apartments so I know how it is and plus a family friend of ours who is an house agent, and she’s most all always around, I have seen our she does with clients, sometimes they get into serious arguments and on time she did a business about a house property that landed her and her colleagues in jail, it was by the grace of God she got bail and came out from cell that day.
As a client looking for an apartment the first thing to consider before even going to look for the apartment should be the agent that’s taking you there, some agents can be very greedy, they will you to pay consultation fees first, and they will start turning you around even after knowing the kind of apartment and your budget, with all this movements you will be the one to pay their to and fro tickets sometimes you will even buy food for them, their agent fees are very high and most times one agent can never be involved-they are always up to two or three or even four hence why the agent fees are always high.
Second thing to look out for is the kind of area that you are being taking to, for example if you’re night crawler and you stay in some part of my area then get ready to walk especially when you leave down the lane, some part of the areas have gates that’s being locked by 10pm and sorry you won’t even find gateman to open at that for you, its either you brace and fly the gates or return back to where you’re coming from, some sides are filled with water, small rain and everywhere is loaded with water..I remember when the children were going to school before they vacated, everyday was like torture because even on top of bike was as if we were swimming on top of water.
Also check for the power supply in that area, in my area some part uses high tension that is being called 33 or while others like our apartment uses the normal one which is called 11, now some compounds uses both which do affects the transformer sometimes, the people on the high tension enjoys the light most while the others live after them, our Landlord refuse to connect from the high because it’s quite expensive.
Another most important thing to look out for is the actually apartment you want to rent, the kind of neighbors you have and the kind of landlord you have, some people even go as far as not renting an apartment that has too many neighbors or an apartment where the landlord stays in the compound.
I remember when we first rented this apartment, the family directly above us was the family of the lawyer that handles the compound, the children would pour water from up or sweep dirty down without caring who was down.
Their Ac water would drop from up and wet our varender, the children would make so much noise, or was it one of our previous neighbors that had 8 kids, this particular was being helped by the landlords wife but at the end they had issue and the woman’s first son organized the community youths to come and lock up the compound with new keys.
Before renting an apartment, I will advice you put it in prayers first because we really never can tell what happens next.
Thanks for stopping by💫
If I can avoid it, I prefer not to deal with agents. They're mostly deceitful and just out to get more and more money from. Every single thing you listed is very crucial. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome
In Lagos, agent fees can be so crazy, I don't really trust most of those guys,
Getting a place to rent needs up most vigilance
In delta state too, it’s same thing
