My Uni Side Hustle, What I Learnt, And How It Ended.

Back then when I gained admission into university, I never had the mind to do any part-time job or even go into business, my first and second year in the university was kinda rosy, my dad literally provided everything that my sister and I needed. He would send us money every two weeks because our school didn’t allow us to cook and the again the community looked really under-developed to me, they had their market every four days, so apart from those four days they didn’t sell anything at the market.

Staying off campus was a bit boring, we also had hostel that was allocated to us because it was part of our fees, so we were always in school. We literally bought food every day, handouts was another thing, some impromtu things would come up, departmental bills here and there would have us paying money as if we were owing them. So one day while I was scrolling my phone on the internet, I came across a page on instagram thats sells oil perfume, and at that time students really fancied oil perfumes and it was also cheap, students didn’t need to break the bank to smell good too, so I saw that it was a good idea to invest in it.

I can’t remember the exact amount I invested in as at that time but I’m not sure if it was up to 15,000 naira, I placed an order and waited for some days for the package to arrive, when it arrived I left school and came back home to pick it up because the package arrived at plaza close to my house. I picked it up and started my side hustle and made some gain from the business— and I also learned that no business is too small as long as you’re focused and striving hard to build it but along the line something happen in school and we the students had to run from the school environment, during the process of running I forgot my oil perfumes in my room locker, we stayed home for one month and before we came back, the boys from the community entered into our rooms and destroyed some of our properties and stole some of our things and that was how my side hustle ended in school.
