In this post, the subject is different—much larger—and so the light falls upon it quietly, as if it didn’t want to disturb it. But it does, because it draws so much more attention; it conveys something. Moreover, where there is light, something else is born—something you can’t touch, but which insists on staying, marking its territory, and then, when you least expect it, it’s gone.

This is a small ceramic piglet in different colors, but one that has been with us at home for many years, as it is harmless; wherever it is, it remains motionless, yet with a very big smile and its perfectly drawn black spots. It sits on the floor, where at first glance it might seem alone, but it never is, for beside it, spreading like a dark whisper, lies its shadow—much larger and more powerful.

Para esta entrada el objeto es distinto, mucho más grande y por eso la luz cae sobre el objeto de forma silenciosa, como si no quisiera interrumpir. Pero lo hace, ya que llama mucho más la atención, transmite algo, además donde hay luz, también nace algo más, algo que no se puede tocar, pero que insiste en quedarse, marcar territorio y cuando uno menos lo espera se va.

Este es un pequeño cerdito de cerámica de colores diferentes, pero que nos ha acompañado en casa durante muchos años, ya que es inofensivo, donde está vez permanece inmóvil, sin embargo, con una sonrisa muy grande y sus manchas negras perfectamente dibujadas. Está en el suelo, donde a simple vista puede parecer que está solo, pero nunca lo está, puesto que a su lado extendiéndose como un susurro oscuro, está su sombra mucho más grande y poderosa.

It is not just any shadow; it is dark, more elongated, more diffuse—almost as if it had a life of its own, and only it knows when to move. While the little pig fulfills its role of standing still as an ornament, observing the world with bright blue eyes, the shadow seems to be observing something else—something deeper, quieter, known only to the shadow itself—since it has no details, no color, but it has a presence.

In this case, the shadow doesn’t ask for attention, but it steals it, since it appears uninvited; simply with the presence of light, it stretches across the tiles, warps at the floor joints, adapts without complaint, says nothing, and is the first thing we notice upon closer inspection. Moreover, it is there because it must be, because it is part of the little pig even though it never quite resembles it.

No es una sombra cualquiera, ya que es oscura, más alargada, más difusa, casi como si tuviera vida propia y solo ella sabe cuando moverse. Mientras el cerdito cumple su función de estar quieto como adorno, observa el mundo con ojos azules y brillantes, la sombra parece observar otra cosa, algo más profundo, más callado, que solo la sombra conoce, puesto que no tiene detalles, no tiene color, pero tiene presencia.

En esta caso la sombra no pide atención, pero la roba, puesto que aparece sin ser llamada, simplemente con presencia de luz, hace que se estire sobre las baldosas, se deforma en las uniones del piso, se adapta sin protestar, no dice nada y es lo primero que todo vemos al detallar. Además, está ahí porque debe estar, porque es parte del cerdito aunque nunca se parezca del todo a él.

A striking contrast emerges between the solid figure and its dark reflection, where both tell a silent story. A story told not with words, but with shapes. Because sometimes we are not just what we reveal in the light, but also what we cast when the light touches us. And so the little pig remains still, the shadow stays with it, but between the two of them, without moving, something happens.

Se crea un gran contraste entre la figura sólida y su reflejo oscuro, donde ambas cosas son una historia silenciosa. Una que no se cuenta con palabras, sino con formas. Porque a veces no somos solo lo que mostramos bajo la luz, sino también lo que proyectamos cuando ella nos toca. Por ende el cerdito sigue quieto, la sombra lo acompaña, pero entre los dos, sin moverse, ocurre algo.
