Weekend-Engagement #302: What's the worst meal you've ever had and why?

When I read this topic, I chose it immediately, because I remembered a horrible meal, so horrible that I will never be able to forget it. It happened in a restaurant during a seaside vacation, located right near the beach, in an area where other times we had overall eaten well.
I had not gone there randomly, I had chosen the restaurant with some care, the reviews were good, the menu seemed interesting, the atmosphere was right outdoors... and so I booked a dinner there after a day at the beach and when the evening came I was already looking forward to it, because when I am on vacation I like to treat myself to some culinary satisfaction.
We sit down, the menu arrives and I order a first course and a second course with a side dish, I am not a fan of appetizers, too raw most of the time. As a first course I had ordered spaghetti with clams, they arrive, nice to look at as well and I start eating them... at the first bite I immediately taste the chili pepper, but maybe I picked some unlucky spaghetti and I try another bite and nothing, that one too chili pepper, but too much, and it covers all the flavors. And so the clams taste like chili pepper, the sauce that should taste like the sea tastes like chili pepper, basically I was simply eating spaghetti with chili pepper.
Bad, hopefully at least with the second course it goes better. I had ordered turbot with vegetables and baked potatoes. It arrives and... too bad it was a microscopic turbot. And also a bit too “baked”... meaning it was almost burnt, and since the side dish also included potatoes and vegetables they did not turn out much better, I remember them all too well, because they were practically black, really charred, the potatoes looked like charcoal for a barbecue.
We also complained to the waiters so that they would inform the chef of the inadequacy of the prepared dishes but apparently for the chef it was correct that they had been made like that... obviously then I left a negative review, I am not someone who leaves reviews around randomly and continuously but in that case it was justified... a ruined dinner

I'd have loved to see some of the the shots of the food. Also, why would they serve stuff that's a little brunt?
hehe yeah it was like 6 years ago, i still used to take photos with camera only as phone wasn't too good, it didn't come in my mind... no idea why they served that, i'd have felt shame for doing so if i was in their shoes

Serving burnt food is terrible, unless it is indicated in their menu, lol!
