Weekend-Engagement #287: What's the best food and worst food you've ever eaten and why?

Handmade tagliatelle bought today, made with just eggs, water, and flour, just a few kilometers from my home.
The best thing I've ever eaten? It's quite a tough question, I had to think about it for a while because I've eaten a lot of good food and done many trips around the world. There were the exquisite crab meatballs from the Balearic Islands, Mexican churros are fantastic, but in the end, I found two winners... The Anglo-Saxons will be upset, I'm sorry, but the grilled foal steak wins above all... so tender that you don’t even need a knife to cut it, it melts in your mouth and has such a delicious taste that stays with you and you wouldn't want to eat anything else to avoid losing it... compared to that, beef, wild boar, or game meats are crude and worth nothing... In equal measure comes the bigoli with duck ragù, I could eat them every day, that ragù has a superb, light, and satisfying taste, nothing compares... It’s all stuff you can make at home or find at the festivals in my region, I’m not a fan of Michelin-starred restaurant food.
The worst thing I’ve ever eaten, on the other hand, was sushi, a few years ago. Now I know I’ll trigger the wrath of many, but I really didn’t like it at all... Everyone was talking about it, colleagues, friends, relatives, so in the end, I decided to try it at a purely Japanese restaurant, not one of those Chinese places that also serves Japanese food... But no, I couldn’t even swallow a bite, the taste was horrible to me, especially the seaweed, which was inedible, it had a flavor that sent shivers down my spine... also, I'm not a fan of raw food, and that was the final blow... it's just a matter of taste, but I really didn’t see anything special in it. Since it was made in a Japanese restaurant in Italy, I still reserve the possibility of another attempt in Japan itself, if I ever have the pleasure of going there, because a pizza abroad is definitely not the same as a pizza in Italy.

STOPOh, look, I hadn't considered it, but now I'm craving a pizza in Italy.
Definitely different from the ones I see abroad!
Italian pizza's are amazing, the best I've ever had. Now I want one too!

I have never been to Italy, but I still love pizza. There is an Italian place around here that sells very tasty pizzas. I hope the owner prepares them the way they would in Italy, although that is doubtful 🙄
I'm almost with you on the some of the sushi thing although my dislike isn't cooked sushi but the ones that are made from raw fish or meat. I don't mind the taste of the nori, the green seaweed paper, but if it's got raw fish or meat in there I can't stand it.

In on the same boat with you, I dislike raw fish or meat, in general, when I go to the restaurants I always ask well cooked meat
Belle tagliatelle 😋😋
Speriamo buone anche!
Oltre la cottura , ci vuole un buon sugo e condimento per esaltare il piatto !
Is an Italian I must confess that abroad it's hard find a true Italian pizza by the way I like too the pasta you shared in the front pic I sometimes made it with home made ragù, Sorry for the bad experience with sushi sometimes it's a matter of personal taste other of luck.
Home made ragù always! I never take supermarket ones 😨
Choosing the best thing I've ever eaten is wonderfully difficult! While I’ve loved Balearic crab meatballs and Mexican churros, two dishes stand above all. First, a grilled foal steak—so tender it needs no knife, melting with a lasting, sublime taste that makes other meats seem crude. Equal to it are bigoli with duck ragù; its superb, light flavor is something I could eat daily. Ultimately, my winners are from home cooking and local festivals, not Michelin-starred restaurants. The most profound flavors are often the simplest and most heartfelt.
Thank You
