San Miguel Especial

Some beers are carefully selected. This one was rescued.

While cleaning the terrace and blasting everything with the Kärcher, I stumbled upon a forgotten bottle of San Miguel Especial hiding like a relic from last summer. Storage conditions were, let’s say, questionable. Sun, heat, winter, ice, time… who knows. But that only made it more interesting. Into the glass it went, with ice cubes of course, because at this point we are fully committing to chaos.

First impression, surprisingly strong. The foam came out thick, creamy, and confident. Honestly impressive for a bottle that just survived a year in exile. It looked like it had something to prove.

Taste wise, it delivers exactly what you expect. Mild, clean, properly beery. No wild flavors, no unnecessary complexity. Just a solid, refreshing beer that does its job without asking for attention. It is not trying to reinvent anything and that is perfectly fine. Sometimes you just want something that works.

Now let’s talk about the real comedy. The marketing on the bottle:

Apparently this beer is all about its spirit of discovery. Its explorer mindset. It wants to inspire you to live life to the fullest. You can almost imagine the bottle standing on a cliff at sunrise, staring into the distance, whispering motivational quotes to itself.

What exactly is this beer discovering. The back of my fridge. The bottom of a dusty crate. New levels of average temperature storage conditions.

And how is it inspiring me. By encouraging me to finally clean my terrace. If anything, this beer did not unlock my inner explorer. It helped me rediscover forgotten beverages and question my life choices.

Let’s be honest. This is not some philosophical experience in a glass. It is a good, honest, refreshing beer. And that is more than enough.

No need for poetic storytelling about adventure and self discovery. Sometimes a beer is just a beer. And when it is cold, simple, and easy to drink, that is already a win.
