Kilkenny irish red ale
After three rounds of tasting bockbier its time to have a break and clear my mind with something new. For now I am not so experienced with irish stuff, so I happened to stumble over a "Kilkenny irish red ale" in my local grocery store and brought it home.
Kilkenny aactually was a stronger version of Smithwick's red ale sold in Ireland, produced for export. The brewery promises “malty roasted aromas” for this ale, but we'll come back to that later to see if it lives up to its promise.
First the beer (and please notice the nice x-mas decoration in the background!)

Lets come to the appearance
Pouring it into an #icecube prepared glass the liquid shows a very beautiful dark amber color - promising! The foam rises fast but also disappears within a few seconds. At the pic you can see that it is not so dense anyway.

The taste
Well. Color and brewerys description really made me curious but with the first sip disappointment came up. It was not a bad taste at all - fresh, mild, not too bitter! But with name and color I was expecting something more rich, more tangy. Might be explained with its only 4.3 % Vol of alcohol.
Anyway - fresh and nice beer, but nothing that stays in my mind forever or that I would recognize in a blind tasting.
Maybe my harsh judgment comes from the three very good experiences I had with bockbeer in the last rounds of beersaturday that I am a bit disappointed now from an actual okayish beer ... 🤷♀
It's interesting that you add ice to it. Doesn't that make it watered down? I think beer tastes better cold, at the right temperature, but without ice, although I haven't tried this one. Cheers!
I am just very obsessed about icecold Drinks. There are two things you can do in Order not to watering up the Beer:
Thanks! Good advice; I loved the one about not waiting so long 😉
