KHV #kcontes: A Journey Through Food, Film, and Culture

This week's #kcontest prompt is interesting because it encourages people to reflect on their impressions of Korea, which should lead to some fascinating responses. With a prompt like this, there will likely be a variety of answers, as people learn about Korea and its culture in different ways. Some may base their impressions on their visits or travels to Korea, while many, like me, haven't visited but have gathered knowledge about Korea and its culture through social media, blogs, YouTube videos, and perhaps even through Korean restaurants and grocery stores in their own countries. I suppose that's a bit of a description of how I came to know Korea in this introduction! LOL.

On a separate note, I also learn about Korea through the blogs I read on this platform, especially in the Korean Hive Village Community, which you can explore through this post link: Korean Hive Village Contest #9 🎁 First impression.

To begin, Korea is well-known for K-Pop, K-Drama, and especially its food and technology. I’ve always thought of Korea as a country with a culture that is stylish, vibrant, romantic, and has a well-refined food experience.

From what I recall, my first experience with Korean culture was through its food. That's when I had the chance to immerse myself in the food culture, and I was truly impressed by the way they serve guests and showcase the variety of dishes they offer. They do this by presenting a selection of side dishes in small portions, served on beautiful little plates. Everything looked appetizing and was made with great care. I couldn’t believe that what was served to us were just the side dishes or appetizers. It felt like I was being treated like royalty, something I don’t experience in restaurants of other cultures.

The first dish I tried was Beef Bulgogi, and it was the dish that made me fall in love with Korean cuisine. Since that day, I’ve tried various other dishes and explored different types of Korean restaurants, such as Samgyupsal, seafood, and more.

I would say that one of the most enjoyable food experiences for me is Korean barbecue, or Samgyupsal.

From here on, the next things I plan to explore about Korea will be other #Kcontent available online. I recently watched a movie called K-Pop Demon Hunter, which I enjoyed so much. I never expected that the songs and tunes featured in the movie would almost give me "last sound syndrome." LOL!

It also gave me a glimpse of Korea's city life, even though it was just a fantasy movie.

Because of that movie, it made me want to visit their city in the future and have a firsthand experience. 😜

In conclusion, exploring Korean culture through its food, movies, and entertainment has been an incredibly enriching experience. I’m excited to continue discovering more aspects of Korea, from its vibrant city life to its rich traditions. I look forward to the day I can visit and experience everything firsthand!

I encourage everyone to join the contest and share your own impressions of Korea — it’s a great way to connect with others and discover more about this fascinating culture!

I've actually switched from travelling to Japan multiple times a year to Korea instead. I've never really eaten Korean food, other than fried chicken and BBQ, until I went over there. Nowadays, I've really developed a liking for Bibimbap, Naengmyeon (amongst other food) since then.

The food looks really delicious! And all of them are nicely plated which shows loads of effort.
