The Great Doctor as my first
I'm very much happy that I got the opportunity to talk about the first K-drama I fell in love with this year, not like it's a new movie, but this is the very first time I'm seeing it.
As a K-drama series lover, I don't just watch any movie, I rather enjoy those historical dramas that are mixed with fantasy and romance and sometimes a touch of medical brilliance, and - The Great Doctor is the perfect one.

The Great Doctor is a drama that deserves your attention honestly, it was released in 2012 with 24 episodes that beautifully blends, time travel, palace politics, medical brilliance, and an unforgettable love story that didn't look real to me in the first few episodes but ended up being an incredible one I admired all through those episodes.

The drama has as the major character Yoo Eun-soo, a beautiful and ambitious plastic surgeon that lived in Seoul and wanted to become a successful and wealthy person. But her life changed when she was mysteriously abducted by an able warrior from the past Choi Young. A warrior from the Joseon Dynasty, which reigned about 700 years ago, who travelled through a mystical window (which was called the gates of heaven) into the future to bring the ‘great doctor’ with him to save the life of the wounded queen.

As she was forced into an entirely foreign realm, Eun-soo really struggled to cope with their way of life in the ancient world where medical information was still in its infancy and threats are hidden in the palace itself.
She depended on her abilities, intellect, and bravery in the face of the primitive technology available to attend to the people's medical needs. She did not only alter the queen’s lifespan but also the inner struggles of the country’s politics. This was another interesting thing I love about the drama, the palace politics.

To me I think the heart of this drama is evolving around the crux of the emotional conflict is the changing relationship between the two protagonists, Choi Young and Eun Soo.
I do love Choi Young and the roles he played. He is an honourable character who had a few words to speak, he is disciplined, and is extremely loyal to his king. While Eun Soo was outspoken, modern and was so eager to return to her land initially which created a difference between this two.Yet their relationship blossomed and it created an intense romance. Their chemistry was genuine, and made to admire them throughout the scenes in the drama.

In addition, beyond romance, other themes presented in the Good Doctor are the theme of destiny, sacrifice, loyalty and faith; faith in love, faith in life, faith in the ability to shape the future. The historical background, along with fantasy, makes it highly engaging to view.

In all, the Great Doctor is more than just a time travel romance. It is a story of courage, commitment, bravery, and love despite the circumstances that surrounded it, it's an extraordinary drama to view.

I highly recommend this for viewers who love stories where love grows slowly and meaningfully. The love was not rushed it grew out of sacrifices, trust and shared struggles. And that makes it feel surreal.

Would you love to make out time to see this interesting drama??
