How to Love Yourself When No One Teaches You How #250
There’s a truth many of us eventually learn, people will sometimes project their insecurities onto you.
It might be through hurtful words, subtle criticism, or actions that make you second guess yourself. And here’s the thing, you can’t always stop it but you can build enough emotional resistance so that, no matter what comes your way, it doesn’t shake your confidence.
Self-love isn’t just about healing old wounds, it’s about becoming whole and unshakable not forgetting the fact that you’ll encounter triggers, especially from familiar faces or places on this journey. You might think you’ve moved past something, only for an old wound to resurface. And suddenly, you’re wondering Why am I feeling this way again?
That’s why emotional resilience is so important. It’s not about being cold, defensive, or always ready for a fight.
It’s about staying grounded, so that if you do respond, it comes from self-awareness and strength, not from hurt or fear.
I've also come to the realization that loving yourself isn’t a mood you wait for, it’s a practice you build, every boundary you set, every kind word you speak to yourself, and every promise you keep to yourself is a brick in the foundation of an unshakable you.
One thing that has helped me on this journey of #self-love is learning to say no to anything that steals my peace of mind. I walk away from people who make me feel less than I am. Every morning, I look in the mirror and speak good words over myself. I carry myself with the same humor and kindness I’d want from others.
I refuse to give even the tiniest space for negativity in my life because I’ve realized that in this part of the world, people expect men to be strong and unbroken, forgetting that we’re human too.
Loving yourself isn’t something you achieve in a day; it’s a continual, intentional process.
The goal isn’t to never be triggered, life will always test you, the goal is to know who you are so deeply that even when you’re shaken, you don’t collapse, attack, or abandon yourself.

Self-love certainly isn't achieved overnight, as you say; it's a continuous and intentional process. I agree with you. When life presents us with situations that affect us, it's valuable to know ourselves from within, so that when faced with these circumstances, we don't fall apart, attack ourselves, or abandon ourselves. Thank you for sharing your experiences,

You offered a lot of wisdom in this post 🙏 I agree with you, self-love involves knowing yourself, as a whole person. Finding the things that you love makes it much easier! And then, like you say, once you are assured in yourself, no matter what anyone says, it cannot touch you if it doesn't resonate with you.
Thank you for sharing, please have a wonderful day!
Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate ❤️
Thank you for sharing, I have learned one or two things from this post , saying no to anything that doesn't make you happy and always saying something positive to yourself before going out.

Self love is really amazing
I especially felt this line Loving yourself isn’t just about healing old wounds, it’s about becoming whole and unshakable. It hit me. I have had moments where familiar triggers shook me and it reminded me how important it is to stay grounded, not to fight back, but to respond with strength and awareness.
Saying no when something steals your peace and speaking kind words to yourself every morning, those small, consistent choices really do build that firm foundation of self-love. And you are so right, it's not about never getting hurt. It’s about knowing deep down who you are, so you don’t collapse when life tests you.
Thank you for writing this gently but so powerfully.
