Greetings, friends of the #LadiesofHive community. In this week's edition, we are invited to reflect on the questions posed by our esteemed @trucklife-family. Here is my contribution:

1. What are the three main values that guide your most important decisions in life, and which value do you find most difficult to practise consistently?

I believe that the values that guide my decisions and help me distinguish between right and wrong are mainly Respect, Honesty and Responsibility. I would also add that the value of justice is the one I find most difficult to practise consistently, because it is a little difficult to act fairly and treat everyone impartially.

For example, in my family, as the eldest sister, I feel compelled to give my opinion. The problem is that I often use words to express myself in a way that sounds like I am giving orders and criticising behaviour, which upsets many people. As they say, I don't mince my words.

These situations also bother me because you never understand them: if you worry too much, it can be bad; if you ask how they are doing in life, it turns out that you are too curious; if you take an interest in their problems, they think you are meddling in matters that are none of your business; if you try to help, it overwhelms them.

In the end, you realise that it's better not to speak when asked, or rather, it's better to give my opinion if someone asks for it. That's what I've been practising lately.

Respect

As human beings, we are not perfect. I believe that the only perfect being is God, but despite our flaws, no two people are alike. No one thinks or acts like you, and that is what makes us unique. I believe that we should treat everyone with consideration and value their opinions, even if they differ from our own.

For example, when I ask myself how I got to where I am or if I feel good about how I got there, I also express my gratitude to other people.

Recognising that my achievements do not only speak for me, they also speak for the people and forces around me, such as my parents, who worked hard to give me an education, as well as our teachers, who cannot be overlooked, who have influenced our lives.

Responsibility

I believe that even though I am not perfect, I am a woman, unique, imperfect, but I am myself and I know how to take control of my life, make decisions and accept the consequences.

These values, learned through education and experience, are essential for harmonious coexistence and personal development. Without a doubt, they will give me a more determined approach to knowing what is considered right or wrong, both for myself and for those around me.

Honesty

Success also gives me the opportunity to think about the people who have given me so much and to be grateful for their contributions.

There is no way we can feel good about ourselves without our integrity. Success and integrity go hand in hand; to achieve success, it is necessary to act with integrity.

2. Looking back on your life, what are the moments you are most proud of, when you remained true to your core beliefs?

It is important to pause for a moment to take stock of where I am and who I am, to know if I have judged myself for what I have achieved in my life, and this is where this question relates to the previous one, because of the significance of the guidelines I have had in accordance with my values.

So I ask myself if I have compromised my integrity in order to achieve success.

When I was presented with occasions when I wanted to look the other way or take the easy route to avoid conflict and gain acceptance, because every day we are presented with opportunities to sacrifice our integrity in fundamental things or in others that may seem insignificant.

In particular, when I was working at the University, in the Treasury Department, I often demonstrated that experience cannot be improvised. The fact is that I rose to the position of Head of that Department because of my performance and because I had fulfilled the duties of each position within that unit with the best attitude of learning and professional development, as well as fully complying with the principle of honesty.

Often, in the process of learning the value system of a profession, we are encouraged to denigrate our values, and sometimes we succumb to this pressure.

Trusting my value system gave me the opportunity to make an important contribution in my work and earned me the position for ten years.
Fortunately, we have the advantage of knowing a value system that contributes to life, and we only have to learn what works at work.

1.¿Cuáles son los tres valores principales que guían tus decisiones más importantes en la vida y qué valor te resulta más difícil practicar de manera constante?

Creo que los valores que guían mis decisiones y me ayudan a distinguir entre lo que está bien y lo que está mal, principalmente serían el Respeto, la Honestidad y la Responsabilidad. Además me permito añadir que el valor de la justicia es el que me resulta más difícil de practicar de manera constante, porque es un poco difícil actuar de manera equitativa y tratar a todos con imparcialidad.

Por ejemplo en mi familia, por ser la hermana mayor, he sentido dar mi opinión, el problema es que muchas veces las palabras que uso para expresarme son de forma en que doy órdenes y críticas de comportamientos, esto les causa molestia a muchos, así como quien dice, no tengo pelos en la lengua para decir las cosas.

Estas situaciones a la vez me generan molestia, porque nunca los entiendes: si te preocupas mucho puede ser malo, si preguntas cómo les va en la vida resulta que eres demasiado curiosa, si te interesas en sus problemas les parece que te estás metiendo en asuntos que no te corresponden, si intentas ayudar les agobia.

Al final te das cuenta que es mejor no hablar cuando te pregunten o mejor dicho, es preferible dar mi opinión si alguien me la pide, es en lo que he estado practicando últimamente.

Respeto

Como personas, no somos perfectos, creo que el único perfecto es Dios, pero con todos los defectos ninguna persona es igual a otra, nadie piensa o actúa como tú, y eso es lo que marca la diferencia. Pienso que así debemos tratar a todas las personas, con consideración y valorar sus opiniones, incluso si son diferentes a las nuestras.

Por ejemplo cuando me pregunto, cómo he podido llegar a donde estoy o si me he sentido bien del modo en que lo he conseguido y expresar además mi agradecimiento a otras personas.

Reconocer que mis logros no sólo hablan por mí misma, también hablan de las personas y fuerzas, un ejemplo sería mis padres, quienes se esforzaron en darme una educación, así como nuestros maestros, que no pueden ser desapercibidos, que han influido en nuestras vidas.

Responsabilidad

Pienso que aun cuando no soy perfecta, soy mujer, única, imperfecta, pero soy yo misma y puedo saber tomar las riendas de mi vida, saber tomar decisiones y asumir consecuencias.

Estos valores, aprendidos a través de la educación y la experiencia, son esenciales para la convivencia armoniosa y el desarrollo personal. Sin duda será lo que me dará un enfoque más determinando para saber lo que se considera correcto o incorrecto tanto para mí como para los de mí entorno.

Honestidad

Así como también el éxito me ofrece la oportunidad de pensar en las personas que me han dado tanto y de estar agradecida por sus aportaciones.

No hay ninguna manera de que podamos sentirnos bien con nosotras mismas sin nuestra integridad. Tanto éxito como y la integridad van de la mano, para obtener el éxito es necesario actuar con integridad.

2. Mirando hacia atrás en tu vida, ¿cuáles son los momentos de los que estás más orgulloso, en los que te mantuviste fiel a tus creencias fundamentales?

Es importante detenerme un momento para hacer un balance de dónde estoy de quién soy, saber si me he juzgado a mí misma por lo que he logrado en mi vida y es aquí donde esta pregunta tiene relación con la anterior, por el significado con las pautas que he tenido de acuerdo a mis valores.

Entonces me pregunto si habré dejado caer mi integridad para obtener el triunfo.

Cuando se me presentaron ocasiones en las que quería mirar a otro lado o tomar el camino más sencillo para evitar el conflicto y obtener aceptación, porque todos los días se nos presentan oportunidades para sacrificar nuestra integridad en las cosas fundamentales o en otras que pueden parecer insignificantes.

En particular, cuando estuve trabajando en la Universidad, en el área de Tesorería, en muchas ocasiones fui demostrando que la experiencia no se improvisa. Y es que para llegar al cargo de Jefe de ese Departamento, fue por el desempeño y por haber cumplido funciones en cada puesto que conformaban esa unidad con la mejor actitud de aprender y evolucionar profesionalmente, así como cumplir cabalmente el principio de honestidad.

Muchas veces en el proceso de aprender el sistema de valores de una profesión, se nos anima a denigrar de nuestros valores y a veces, sucumbimos a esta presión.

Confiar en mi sistema de valores me brindó la oportunidad de realizar una importante contribución en mi trabajo, me valió el desempeño del cargo durante diez años.
Afortunadamente, tenemos la ventaja de conocer un sistema de valores que contribuye a la vida, y sólo tenemos que aprender a saber qué es lo que funciona en el trabajo.
