Greetings, friends of the #LadiesofHive community. In this week's edition, which invites us to reflect on the questions from our dear @irenenavarroart, here is my participation:

1. If you had the power to create a single law in your country right now, what would it be?

I remember when I was studying at university, a professor in a course called "Labor Law" told us that Venezuela was the country with the most laws in the world and gave us the example that they were violated more often than women themselves, but with the difference that women had the option to report violations. However, contrary to the laws, these were created to circumvent them.

In particular, if I could create a law, it would be a "Law for Monitoring Compliance with Legislation, with Fines for Contempt." Perhaps this proposal would even seem a bit laughable, but when I think about and read about any situation of intolerance, and I've taken the time to review our legislation, all these laws already exist. They cover civil, criminal, labor, economic, and social areas; they are in effect, but they are not enforced.

One example is the challenge of driving a private vehicle. For me, it's already synonymous with dodging, watching out for, and protecting other drivers. I'm not saying all of them, but there are a large number of reckless drivers out there today.

It turns out that the Land Transportation Law and local regulations in Venezuela penalize motorcyclists for violating safety standards, but if these regulations were actually enforced and monitored, the accidents that occur daily would be avoided, and a large amount of money would be collected from these infractions, provided, of course, that the resources were managed transparently. This money could then be used to fill potholes in the roads and to pay for and conduct workshops on collective awareness for the drivers of these vehicles.

2. Have you ever tolerated abusive behavior from someone close to you due to social pressure? If so, how did you handle it?

For a while, I worked at the University in the Treasury Department, which sometimes required me to interact with the public. This was a service the institution provided to external users to meet their needs, delivering payments or receipts for services they provided.

Of course, we were well-versed in customer service, including proper attitude, effective and respectful communication, empathy, patience, tolerance, and responsibility.

However, on several occasions I had to deal with the bad temper of customers who demanded service outside of the hours established by the regulations. The truth is, in those situations, it's often difficult to please people.

Many times, I had to remain calm in the face of irate customers, ignore their rudeness, and listen to every problem or excuse they had for arriving outside of business hours. Sometimes they even went to the Director of Administration to get an extra pass. I felt it was an abuse of power on the part of some of them.

In any case, given this increasingly frequent situation, after several meetings with management, explaining the time required for closing the register to perform the necessary cash counts, it was decided to launch an information campaign to emphasize adherence to the schedule. Over time, the vast majority became aware of and respected it.

I think that trying to please everyone is a waste of energy that ultimately only leads to frustration because you don't achieve the desired result. Just as not everyone is obligated to agree with you, you are not obligated to try to make others happy, especially since we know that there are people or situations that demand unlimited resources without ever being satisfied.

Recuerdo cuando en la época que estudiaba en la universidad, un profesor de una asignatura denominada: "Legislación laboral", nos decía que Venezuela era el país con más leyes en mundo y nos daba el ejemplo de que eran más violadas que las mismas mujeres, pero con la diferencia de que ellas tenían la opción de denunciar, pero contrario a las Leyes, las creaban para pasar por encima de ellas.

En particular, si pudiera crear una Ley seria "Ley de seguimiento al cumplimiento a la legislación con multas por desacato", quizás hasta tenga un poco de risa esta propuesta, pero cuando pienso y leo en cualquier situación intolerante y me he dado a la tarea de revisar nuestra legislación, todas esas leyes ya existen, abarcan áreas civiles, penales, laborales, económicas y sociales, están vigentes, pero no se cumplen.

Un ejemplo es el reto de salir en vehículo particular y conducir, para mí ya es sinónimo de esquivar, cuidar y proteger a los motorizados, no digo todos, pero hay una gran cantidad de imprudentes, que existen hoy en día.

Entonces resulta que la Ley de Transporte Terrestre y normas locales en Venezuela sancionan a motorizados por incumplir normas de seguridad, pero si en realidad se le diera cumplimiento y seguimiento, se evitaría los accidentes que ocurren a diario, incluso entraría una gran cantidad de dinero por este concepto de infracciones, claro está con transparencia en el manejo de los recursos, así el dinero se puede destinar para tapar huecos en las vías, para pagar y dictar talleres de conciencia colectiva a los conductores de estos vehículos.

2.¿Alguna vez ha tolerado un comportamiento abusivo por parte de alguien cercano a usted debido a la presión social? Si es así, ¿cómo lo manejaste?

Durante algún tiempo que estuve trabajando en la Universidad, en el área de Tesorería, por lo que requería en algunos casos la atención al público, como un servicio que prestaba la Institución a usuarios externos con el objetivo de satisfacer sus necesidades, entregando los pagos o recibos mediante las actividades que desempeñaban por prestación de servicios.

Por supuesto que teníamos claro los conocimientos de atención al público, como la actitud, la comunicación efectiva y con respeto, empatía, paciencia, tolerancia y responsabilidad.

Sin embargo, en varias ocasiones debía enfrentar el mal humor de usuarios que exigían ser atendidos fuera del horario de atención establecido en la normativa, pues la verdad es que en esos casos, con las personas muchas veces es difícil quedar bien.

Muchas veces mantener la calma ante usuarios molestos, ignorar las malas formas y escuchar a cada problema o excusa que tenían para llegar fuera del horario e incluso en ocasiones acudían hasta el Director de Administración para obtener un pase extra, me parecía que era un abuso de algunos.

De todos modos ante esta situación que ya era muy frecuente, después de varias reuniones con la Directiva, explicando el tiempo en cuanto al cierre de la caja que necesitábamos para realizar los arqueos correspondientes, se decidió realizar una especie de campaña de información para recalcar el cumplimiento del horario, con el tiempo la gran mayoría tenía conciencia y respeto del mismo.

Pienso que tratar de quedar bien con toda la gente, es por demás un gasto de energía, que al final solo te dejan frustraciones, porque no consigues el resultado que esperabas, así como no todos tienen obligación de estar de acuerdo contigo, tu tampoco tienes la obligación de tratar de hacer feliz a los demás, especialmente porque sabemos que hay personas o situaciones que demandan recursos sin límite, sin quedar nunca satisfechas.
