Acts of kindness to make our home a little corner filled with love |Actos de bondad para hacer de nuestro hogar un rinconcito lleno de Amor LOH#268

In English
Greetings, friends of the #LadiesofHive community. With this week's edition, which coincides with the festive season, we are invited to reflect on the questions posed by our dear @irenenavarroart. Here is my contribution:
1 Some jobs are essential during the holidays. Have you ever had to work on public holidays? If not, have you ever done something for someone who did?
For some time, I worked as a coordinator in the university's treasury department. The days leading up to Christmas were very busy because of the number of payments we had to make to all the staff before the December holidays. I even did my shopping and decorating at home after 15 December.
On several occasions, I had to work with my team until 22 December, finalising the payroll for January of the following year, which had to be ready by that date, as there was no automated system at the time and we had to guarantee the salaries of all the institution's staff. In this way, for several years I experienced the hustle and bustle that comes with working during that time of year.
Fortunately, more than a year ago, my daughter and I moved from one city to another, and being closer to our family fills us with gratitude, first to God, and even more so with the charm of the season of being able to share what little or much we have with those in need, because that is what Christmas is all about.
In our case, I have my nieces, who work in supermarkets, grocery stores, beverage stores, ice cream parlours, restaurants, and many other establishments, with shift schedules according to the group they belong to and have to work these days.
For example, last year they stayed at our house over Christmas because the journey from their home to their workplace takes over an hour by public transport due to traffic, and those are the days when they are busiest at work, whereas those shops are only a five-minute drive from our residence.
So during those days, I kept track of the time they left early and arrived late from work, went downstairs to open the door for them, helped them prepare their meals, and understood how exhausting it was for them because of sales and the schedule they had to keep.
As is customary in my family, Christmas is celebrated with many traditions: dining together, exchanging gifts, welcoming friends, counting down to midnight, hugs, and most importantly, the night when we can be more united and feel the warmth of family.
We hope that this year we can get together again, especially because one of my nieces (who is also my goddaughter) is expecting her first baby and it would be more comfortable for her at this time.

I believe that we should not necessarily limit these acts of love to December, as we could do them throughout the rest of the year. Hopefully, we will have that kindness all year round, but as imperfect human beings, we know that this date is a good reminder of the importance of doing so.
2. Have you already decorated for the holidays or are you planning to? Show us a little bit of your space and tell us about your decorations
I love Christmas because it inspires us in our growth, in what we have learned, in strengthening our willpower, in the greatness of our decisions. It is a good time to make our home a cosy corner full of warmth, a dwelling place full of peace and love, just as our Lord Jesus left us that legacy with his blessed birth.
In particular, our decoration is the nativity scene, as my mother taught us, which reminds us and updates us on the arrival of Jesus Christ in history. It is not just a beautiful memory, but the mystery of the Incarnation, which broke the distance between heaven and earth. As a Catholic believer, I firmly believe that Jesus continues to be born in our hearts.
Likewise, the Christmas tree represents the union between earth and heaven, as its roots are in the earth and it always grows towards the sky. The triangular shape of the tree represents the Holy Trinity, the star thatdecorates the top represents faith, the lights represent the light that guides our path through faith, and the baubles symbolise our prayers, whether they be requests, repentance, thanksgiving or praise.

These days we decided to change the decorations on our tree. Of course, we used many of the gold ones we already had and only bought the red ones. We also replaced some lights that were damaged with warm twinkle lights. I love how the decorations turned out.
I wish you all an excellent, blessed, and spectacular Wednesday, 24 December, surrounded by your loved ones! Merry Christmas, friends of this wonderful Community of Damas de la Colmena!

I share your opinion: the acts of love we perform in December should continue throughout the year, as these moments are unique and magical.
Having a home is a great blessing, and we should be grateful for and value every moment spent with our family, with all its ups and downs.
As for your decorations, they are very beautiful. The Christmas tree is a must-have in any home, as it is the star of our most iconic photos.
Best regards.
Happy holidays.
Yes, even though this is the ideal time to remember him, we can perform these acts throughout the year.
