Today I'm getting ready for another one of @ladiesofhive's wonderful initiatives, and I really identify with one of the two questions they've asked us this week. I've always loved these kinds of initiatives because they've allowed me to learn more about myself, what I'm capable of, and how I've grown.
Hoy me preparo para una más de las hermosas iniciativas de @ladiesofhive, con la cuál además me siento muy identificada en una de las dos preguntas que nos ofrecen para esta semana. Siempre me han gustado estas iniciativas porque me han permitido conocer un poco más de mi misma, de lo que soy capaz de hacer y la forma en la que he evolucionado.
What advice would you share explaining how you equip yourself with knowledge and coping skills in an ever changing world. Include the elderly or young who share your daily journey through constant state of transition.
¿Qué consejo compartirías para explicar cómo adquirir conocimientos y habilidades para afrontar un mundo en constante cambio? Incluya a las personas mayores o jóvenes que comparten su viaje diario a través de un constante estado de transición.
First and foremost, it's important to recognize that we are all different, so we learn differently. Furthermore, learning can also depend on economic, social, and cultural contexts. However, there are diverse learning styles with which we can identify and feel comfortable. Therefore, knowing this, the first thing we must do is stop comparing ourselves to others and focusing on our age, or saying things like, "He or she has learned so much more than me and is half my age." This is harmful to our minds, our spirits, and our self-esteem. Seek out and analyze the different opportunities available to you. For example, if you want to learn a new language and don't have the money to attend a language school, you can learn online with videos and apps. You just need to be very consistent and take the new activity seriously. Challenge yourself, don't compare yourself to others, and if you want to compete, compete with yourself, with your past self. This way, you can see how much you've grown.
Ante todo es importante reconocer que todos somos diferentes, así que aprendemos de manera diferente, además el aprendizaje también puede depender de un contexto económico, social y cultural, sin embargo existen diversas maneras de aprendizaje con las cuales nos podemos sentir identificados y cómodos, por lo tanto, sabiendo esto lo primero que tenemos que hacer es dejar de compararnos con otros y pensar en nuestra edad, o decir cosas como "Él o ella han logrado aprender mucho más que yo y tiene la mitad de mi edad" eso es algo dañino para nuestra mente, nuestro espíritu y nuestra autoestima. Busca y analiza las diferentes oportunidades que tienes a tu alcance, por ejemplo si quieres aprender un nuevo idioma y no tienes dinero para ir a una academia, puedes aprender a través de internet con videos online y aplicaciones, solo debes ser muy constante y tomarte muy enserio la nueva actividad, rétate a ti mismo, no te compares con otros y si quieres competir, hazlo contigo mismo, con tu "yo" del pasado, así podrás comprobar cuanto haz evolucionado.
I'm going to tell you an anecdote about myself. I've never liked reading, and sometimes I've felt criticized for it. I've really tried, even with books that catch my attention. However, I discovered that nowadays there's a wide variety of formats that can be adjusted to my needs, and in my case, I prefer audiobooks, which allow me to do other tasks while listening to the story. So the result is the same, or even better; I just changed the method.
Les voy a contar una anécdota de mi misma, nunca me ha gustado leer, y algunas veces me he sentido criticada por eso, de verdad lo he intentado, incluso con libros que llaman mi atención, sin embargo descubrí que hoy en día existe una gran variedad de formatos que se pueden ajustar a mis necesidades, y en mi caso prefiero los audiolibros que me permiten ir dedicándome a otras tareas mientras escucho la historia, así que el resultado es el mismo y hasta mejor, solo cambié de método.
Previously, I knew absolutely nothing about technology. I could barely use my smartphone, but I confess I didn't even know how to turn on the home computer (I'm 66 years old). Then my daughters got me excited about creating content on Hive. At first, I laughed, I admit 😄, but the more they talked to me, the more motivated I became. Of course, they were a huge help at the beginning, guiding me every step of the way: how to turn on the computer, how to access the internet, how to log into my blog, how to manage it, how to write each post, the correct use of fonts—it all took time. I took a lot of notes, let them guide me with the first posts, and here I am today 😃. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I know I've made great progress, and that gives me a lot of personal satisfaction.
Por otra parte anteriormente yo no sabía absolutamente nada de tecnología, apenas y si podía usar mi teléfono inteligente pero les confieso que ni siquiera sabía encender la computadora de la casa (tengo 66 años), hasta que mis hijas me entusiasmaron con la propuesta de empezar a crear contenido en Hive. Al inicio me reí, lo admito 😄 pero mientras ellas más me hablaban, yo cada vez me sentía más motivada y obviamente al inicio recibí mucha ayuda de parte de ellas que me guiaban en cada paso: como encender la computadora, como acceder a internet, como entrar en mi blog, como manejarlo, como redactar cada post, el uso correcto de las fuentes, en fin, fue algo que me tomó tiempo, hice muchas anotaciones, dejé que me guiaran en los primeros post y hoy en día eme aquí 😃, sé que aún me falta mucho por aprender, pero sé que he avanzado bastante y eso me genera una gran satisfacción personal.
You just need to be generous and kind to yourself. Don't deny yourself opportunities to learn, analyze which method is best, don't sabotage yourself, and don't try too hard to please others. Allow yourself the chance to learn to do what you love, at your own pace. Life evolves, that's true, but we can find the best way to adapt. All it takes is consistency, love, and patience. Apply these three virtues as both teacher and student, and you'll see that learning new things becomes much easier.
Solo necesitas ser generoso y amable contigo mismo, no te niegues oportunidades para aprender, analiza cuál es el mejor método, no te sabotees a ti mismo y tampoco te empeñes en complacer a los demás, permítete la oportunidad de aprender a hacer lo que te gusta, a tu propio ritmo. La vida evoluciona, eso es verdad, pero nosotros podemos hallar el mejor camino para adaptarnos, solo hace falta constancia, amor y paciencia, aplica estas tres virtudes tanto como maestro como alumno y verás que es más sencillo aprender cosas nuevas.
I am grateful every day for these wonderful initiatives and I invite everyone to participate. I would especially like to invite my daughters @bethyjade and @mairene1, since it was precisely thanks to them that I now feel comfortable using the internet and even creating content, discovering that I have the ability to convey messages that others might find useful. Agradezco cada día por estas maravillosas iniciativas e invito a todos a que formen parte de ellas. Me gustaría invitar especialmente a mis hijas @bethyjade y @mairene1, ya que precisamente fue gracias a ellas que hoy en día me atrevo a usar internet a gusto y hasta crear contenido, descubriendo así que tengo la capacidad de transmitir mensajes que probablemente a otros les pueda servir. My favorite used book store is long gone, bankrupt due to the government enforced closure due to the pandemic. And that is where I discover audio books too. I still get emailed a few title suggestions weekly in my favorite genres.

Yes, the truth is that audiobooks are a wonderful option; in my case, I love them because they allow me to do other things while listening to the story, which I find very practical.
